I challenged myself at the beginning of the year to read 26 books by "new" authors (that is, authors whose books I had never read before). I then invited a number of family members to join me -- I now find myself behind everyone else in numbers, and I am looking for suggestions. At this point, I need books by authors whose names start with the following letters:
F
I
J
N
O
Q
T
U
V
X
I welcome any suggestions y'all might have...

I really love how Ursula Hegi writes... I read her book "Stones From the River".
I enjoyed "Song of Solomon" by Toni Morrison.
And I don't know if you are going by first or last name... I haven't read a good adult book in a while. I am a fan of books based around WWII and love Steinbeck. My advisor at school told me to stop taking lit. classes cause they weren't doing me much good as far as a degree.
Good luck though! Very ambitious!

Most of my reading has been from the Young Adult section lately...I looooooved the Twilight series....
As much as I like to read (which is a lot, actually) -- I had to abandon English Literature as a major because I just can't stand assigned literature reading. So now I'm majoring in sociology, with minors in Spanish and Health care communication.

Jodi Picoult! She is an excellant author, and her books are right at the edge of young adult, going into mature..
Btw, I'm majoring in Sociology too!
