Hello everyone,

Well, my neuro called yesterday afternoon with the MRI results. It seems that I still have a small csf leak along the incision line from my mvd. I also have inflamation at the mastoid bone.

Today I will call the neurosurgeon again. It is looking like another surgery as I have had this leak since 9/4. No wonder I still feel so bad, swelling in my face, pains in the back of my head, along with a bunch of other annoying and painful problems.

Well, anyways, wish me luck!

Kellie,
I'm sorry to hear that but on the positive side, they should hopefully be able to fix it and end the trouble you've been having. Take care and keep us posted. I hope they get you in real soon!

Sending along big hugs to you, Ellena

Well, I talked to the Neurosurgeon today. He says that the leak is small, if there at all and not just fluid that hasn't been absorbed. I am so frustrated. The leak was discovered 9/4/06 when I went to the ER. I told him that I still don't feel well, my face is (and has been for 2 months) swollen and it tingles, I have pains on the back of my head and still haven't been able to work a full day. I am so thankful to have a boss who is understanding. Well, anyways, he says I just shouldn't feel this bad, and that I should go to my GP and have a blood workup. Also I should go to an ENT, because he just doesn't see any relationship to the swelling. HELLO...the MRI shows a LEAK!!! I think he just does not want to fix this although it was fine and well to do the surgery....but now that there is a problem, well it certainly is not his!

I am seeing an ENT who first diagnosed the TN tomorrow afternoon and I am taking my CAT scan that was done 9/4 and the MRI that was done last week.

You know, I thought he was a great surgeon, and I haven't had a bit of the TN raise its ugly head since the surgery, but am I being unreasonable to want a solution after 2 months of this leak? Wouldn't you think he would want to know if it is resolving? Wouldn't you think he would want to follow up on this?

He continues to express his concern about not being able to find it and about making it worse. I am getting a little bit concerned here, because I can't just sit around and wait months on end for this to heal and what if it never does? I wonder if he just doesn't want to admit that something is wrong and he can't/won't fix it? Any suggestions out there?

Frankly, I think alot is about the all mighty dollar and MVDs are more profitable than a CSF leak.

Well, thanks to listening to me rant and rave. I am gonna get off my soap box now, go take a percoset and sit in my well used recliner...again.

Kellie I think you're entitled to make a fuss - this is right off the chart of annoying results you don't need. And it sounds like you should be annoyed with the doctor as well, as you say - fine, do the surgery and then bye bye. What do you have to do, point to MRI, say leak, point to head, say swelling, ouch.

When the surgery worked well, and you should be on top of the world, now this? Ugh.

Tons of sympathy and a big hug, Nancy
