Im really scared I dont know whats wrong with me the other day I was in Kmart shopping for my room , Im perfectly fine nothing is wrong when completely out of the blue I feel myself get these chills, well they werent really chills it felt like I was getting hot and cold at the same time, and I started sweating cold sweat (I know gross sorry) and I felt really weak as if I had just run a marathon I felt my heart beat very clearly and it felt like a fluttering pulse like it was going really fast ofcourse I started freaking out and I was all alone in this aisle and even though it is not in my nature to ask for help because im usually to embarassed to I felt so sick I called some random lady over and told her I felt really sick ( I dont know why I did this, its really embarassing) then I felt my head get heavy and I felt myself falling back a bit the sides of my eyes started going blurry and then the next thing I remember there was some security guard guy next to me with a whole herd of people when I woke up, I felt really weak still Im guessing I told the security guard to call an ambulance because next thing I know I was in an ambulance to the hospital, the doctor there ran a bunch of tests and said everything came out normal and that it looks liKe my blood sugar was a little low but nothing major, it didnt seem like that was the actuall reason I fainted, he said I had a panic attack. so I went home I was fine for about a week when one day I was brushing my teeth and then I got the feeling again and I freaked out again, so I layed in my bed a bit and then I was fine with no fainting. then a few weeks later I was at my friends house and the suddenly I felt the chills again and she asked me if I was alright and I told her I needed to step out for a moment and before I could get outside I felt my eyes get dark in the sides again and my whole body felt weak and I fell back and she held me up and then I woke up again she said I was only down for about 2 minutes going in and out of consciousness it took be about half an hour to completely recover from the chills. I went home that same day and after having dinner with my family we were all in the living room watching baseball my mom told me to get something from the table and when I got near the table I started feeling the weakness and shakyness again I grasped onto the table and fell and then I woke up immediately because of my mother screaming at the top of her lungs, she starts getting hysterical and frantic I convinced her to let me stay home, I really hate hospitals.... I went to the doctor again the next day and everything came out normal in all my tests even my blood sugar, and the doctors put my on anti depressives for anxiety (I dont know why either) im freaking out though now im always afraid this will happen again I dont want it to happen in public much less in front of my mother! , the first time this happened I was about to get my period so I thought it was just a period thing, but since it kept happening im just so confused. Anyone else go through this? I get so frustrated with this I feel like im disabled I just want to *** myself.

talk to your doctor. he may want to check for irregular heart rhythms like mitral valve prolapse. course, it could be nothing. i had my first anxiety attack when i was about 20. went through a bunch of tests, ekg, echocardiogram, etc. basically spent a bunch of money and only ended up with a xanax script that i had to throw out because it was making me too sleepy to get any work done. anyhoo, since you passed out, i'd go talk to the doc.

I really don't think your doc is delving deep enough. Especially for these to just appear out of the blue. Are you under a lot of stress? Have you ever been treated for anxiety or any other mental illness? If your doctor is just doing rudimentary blood work and not finding anything and the meds don't work and he goes no farther then most definitely seek a different opinion. Don't let him just med you up. Try the med for a while, everybody reacts differently maybe it can take the edge off and it will work.
Beany you completely leave out the information you posted in Asperger Syndrome forum here. Just wondering how come. Kind of hard to give advice without the whole picture.
You say you feel like you are disabled, I take that to mean you feel like you are not "normal", note the quote marks. Usually here when we refer to the "normals" we use quote marks because really, who is "normal". No one here is "normal" in the sense of the word you are thinking of. We are all the norm, we make up the people that you meet on the street everyday, your mailman, in the grocery store, the teachers, nurses, doctors, caregivers, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, grandparents, all over the world all walks of life.
As for the panic/anxiety attacks, I myself don't have them to the point of passing out but I have them. There are others here that have them too. There is no shame in having to take the meds.
I don't think your mother gets mad at you for not having friends so much as she hurts for you. She loves you and she wants you to be happy. Are you happy not being social or do you feel left out? If you are fine with it have you told her?
I hope the meds work for you and that you and your mother make peace with your situation.

I'm not a regular here, but I'm very familiar with panic. You shouldn't be passing out.
If your doc isn't going to look any further, then you need to change docs. Maybe see a cardiologist? What kind of doc are you seeing now?

Beany, I am late to this thread but wanted to chime in. My name is Kathy and I have been thru the same experiences you have discribed. I do have a major anxiety/panic disorder and a mitral valve prolapse. You may want to request an echo cardiogram, basically an ultrasound of your heart valves. Most docs can hear the clicking sound a mvp causes.
I also have been put on a selective seritonin reupake inhibitor (SSRI). These med have an anti anxiety component in them, but take 2-3 weeks to take full effect. I have been on these for years and haven't passed out since. I also take xanax at a scheduled interval to keep it in my system.
I was single mom and had a full time job, but was able to deal with the problems and get on with my life. I hope you will also.
I do avoid situations which cause me undo stress and anxiety. I also use "self talk" when I am feeling my anxiety rise. I can usually talk myself out of most panic attacks. I have also been thru counseling to learn why I have these attacks and how to deal with them. I would strongly advise counseling to get to the bottom of the anxiety/panic issues.
I hope some of this helped. Please feel free to pm me anytime you like.
Take care,
Kathy

I was wondering if they did a cat scan of your brain .I would see a neurologist . I'm not trying to scare you but, when I was younger I started having black outs, when I was working I had alot of blackouts, I don't work now and things have gotten better . A few years back I was D'Xed with brain aneurysms , also have prolapsed mitral valve.
My neice who has severe panic attacks had your symptoms, now she's on lexipro and doing fine. I can't handle the lights in the stores they make me crazy. Also a friend of mine went through the same thing you did and they said her sugar dropped low then at church a woman had the same problem the ambulance took her to the hospital and said her sugar dropped . I hope you get to the root of your problem. take care :)

Has anyone considered that it might be epilepsy? About 1/3 of people with Asperger Syndrome/autism have seizures as well.
Wishing you well.

Sandy, you brought up a good point about the seizures. My first thought was seizure, but beanies symptoms are the same as mine when I have passed out, the last time in the hospital walking the hallways.
Beanie, I do think your doctor has delved far enough as Christina said. There coud be a hundred reasons for what is going on! Your hormones including Thyroid, adrenals, and many other tests should be performed and you should not just be given a script and sent on your way.
Someone else asked about the type of doctor, we may be able to help with all of the information you can give.
Take care
Kathy
I know this thread is over a month old, I am hoping you will see this and come back, we really would like to help you.

What are you eating and when? The fact that on your first trip to the hospital your blood sugar was low is the most significant thing that I found in your post.
The easiest thing to do is to make sure that you are eating 3 well balanced meals every day, with some source of protein in each one. This will keep your blood sugar from fluctuating wildly. If you continue to have symptoms, then your doctor will have a better place to begin testing, knowing that you have already done this.
My youngest son had similar problems during his childhood and is very careful to make sure he eats on a regular basis. It has not reoccured. Cheerio.
