I am currently on opioids, as well as a anti-inflammatory as an adjuvant. My pain is more of a musculoskeletal "ache" than nerve pain of any type (except for a sharp feeling at the incision site when I had surgery). Does Lyrical work for more pain types than just fibro, etc...? I don't hear about this med a lot, but it seems amazing.

All/most the testing has been on neuropathy.. that does not mean that it would not help with your particular problem. The Pharma's can't promote for a condition that has not been approved by the FDA... but that doesn't stop a prescriber from trying it. Generally, the upside of working is greater than the downside of the potential side effects and it not providing relief.

Are Lyrical and Lyrica the same thing?
I edited my post to say Welcome to BT Dave. You'll find a wealth of knowledge here as well as an abundance of humanity.

I know of several people that get good pain relief from Lyrica so it might be worth a try if you aren't achieving good pain control.

Welcome to BT Dave! Pete is right in saying you will find a wealth of knowledge here! Also alot of support. I have been taking Lyrica for neuropathy since it came out. But as Mark said you really never know unless you try it. Most of the meds I take are used off label.
Welcome again,

Dave, Welcome to the forum. This is a great place and a bunch of wonderful people.
I have been taking Lyrica for about 2 years for radicular neurophathy in my arms and hands. It is helping the burning pins and needles as well as some of the pain. It started to work in about a week... for me anyway it is working great.
I started with 75 mg AM and 75 mg PM. Now I am at 300 mg AM and 300 mg PM. I am on a very high dose for neurophathy as well as a migraine preventative. I go to my doc on Wednesday and plan to reduce the dosage to 450 mg per day (150mg 3x per day).
Lyrica is new and it is expensive. Samples are a great way to try it out. The side effects for me were not very bad. It can make you feel light headed at first, but it will subside. It can also make you feel hungry all the time. Just watch what you eat.
Take care and keep us updated.

I tried Lyrica for nerve pain, and as I am one of those problem patients who have trouble with meds, I started out at 37.5 mg. I did fine at that level, but as soon as we bumped it to 75 I broke out in huge hives. I always want to make sure, so I repeated it the next am, LOL. Yep. I didn't take it again. I can't take any of the NSAIDS either, or Cymbalta, or Effexor, or Vicodin, etc. My drs tell me I am a difficult patient, and it's a good thing that I don't give them any other hassles, LOL.
Welcome aboard, so sorry you have to be here, but if you do, you couldn't be with better people. The gang here is very friendly, welcomming, and really knows their stuff. Good luck!!
God bless and one-armed hugs,
