Depending on which source you believe.. the acetaminophen in the vicodin should be limited to 3000mg - 4000mg /day. Exceeding this amount daily for the long term may cause irreversible liver damage.
thanks steve how about just until I can get to the NS and see what he is going to do or when I have surgery. Right now the pain is just unreal. or would it hurt taking two of the soma's and 1 vicoden.

The Vicodin and Soma can be taken together...but .. I can't advise anyone taking more than what the doc prescribed.. you might want to call the doc's office tomorrow .. to see if you could increase your dose... in the short term.

DDC, When I first started on my back journey, I was Taking both Vicodin and Soma, I don't know the strength of the Vicodin you are taking, if you want to pm me I can give you some suggestions. Do talk to your NS tomorrow, I also would not take more Vicodin due to the amt. of Tylenol in it for the same reason Steve gave you.
Take care and good luck,
Kathy

In the pain community, we limit the Tylenol intake to 2400-2600mg per day if being used chronically. 4000mg is fine for 2-4 weeks.

ACETAMINOPHEN, ASPIRIN, AND CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE
C. MICHAEL FORED, M.D.
Conclusions
Our results are consistent with the
existence of exacerbating effects of acetaminophen
and aspirin on chronic renal failure. However, we cannot
rule out the possibility of bias due to the triggering
of analgesic consumption by predisposing conditions.
Thanks everyone, well I did not get into the Dr today, my NS office was on vaccation until tomorrow and I called my NL and they made me an apt for tomorrow afternoon for a nerve conduction test to see how bad it is lol not sure why since they know I need surgery anyways and I am not looking forward to the pain it causes like I need more pain, I am going to ask him for a neck collar to keep my neck stable because I noticed that if I bend forward or lean forward the slightest bit is when the pain is at it's worse. I have tried everything to get some relief in the neck and so far not very much.
I was reading some things on google and came across some article where you can do your own homemade traction, take a towell and tie a rope on one end then bring the rope up and over to the other end and then drape it on a door knob, then you lay on the floor on your back with your head near the door and then just sit the back of your head in the towell part and let it hold your head up kind of like a sling. That helped a tiny bit and was better then nothing. I was desparate so tried anything thing I would not suggest this to anyone else. Anyways thanks and I will see what happens at my NL tomorrow.
