Would anyone happen to know of a good NS in the Chattanooga area?
I am asking for my niece. My brother and sister in law were up for the 4th of July weekend and told me their daughter has been diagnosed with Chiari. Now, I don't know the FULL story yet, just bits and pieces. But they told me she is going to be referred to a NS. I just wanted to know if there is a good one in that area that I can tell them about.

Kathi, I can't help, but possibly posting in the Chiari Forum would give you a good shot also, just a thought.
I am so sorry to hear your niece is going thru this, you must be worried as much as her parents are. I am sending my prayers.

Thanks Kathy,
That's what I should have done in the first place...DUH! I guess I was thinking that mabye Dr. Steve might know of a good one.
Anyway, as I said, I don't know the FULL story and I see my brother today so I will ask who and how this was diagnosed. Yes, they are worried but I don't think they know too much about it. And I believe their daughter is about age 30 and has two small children. Duh again, you would think I would know EXACTLY how old she is; I just can't keep up with everyone's birthdays anymore.:) I will ask them more today. It is just that at the 4th of July party, well, everyone was paryting. :)

Is there a Pediatric NS needed?
Limits you to more of an academic center.
Scottish Rite in Atlanta would be the only local option if my kid needed a NS consult.

Kathi,
My in laws were from Nashville and we used to drive thru Chatanooga to get there from Georgia. Atlanta is definitely closest to them, about 1 1/2- 2hrs, Vanderbilt in Nashville is atleast 3.5 hours or better. The choice is the parents, both are great schools! Hope that helps. I think Medical Schools are the best choice for the best care.:)
Take care,
kathy

Thanks you guys,
No, no pediatric NS is needed. My niece is about 30 years old or so.
Anyway, I asked my sister in law who diagnosed her daughter with this. And she said it was an Internal Medicine doc who then ordered an MRI. So, I guess, it is NOT an OFFICIAL diagnosis yet and that's why he wants to refer her to an NS. And from what I gather the MRI was done about a week or so ago; brother and sister in law have been on vacation since then and I guess my niece was telling them about it over the phone. All they could really tell me besides all of that is that she has really bad headaches every day.
Thanks for the info. on Atlanta and Nashville, I will let them both know about both places. :) Neither Atlanta nor Nashville would be too awfully far.
So, all I could really do today is just print off some information for them and that was about it. But I will post back after she sees an NS.
