... only things pending: Drug test and background check, and job beeee mine, all mine. I can't envision any reason I won't sail through both. It's a cut in pay but not having to pay COBRA will pretty much put me in a position close to where I was before the lay-off.

What a huge relief. I won't have to sell my house, won't have to relocate, won't have to worry about where the doggie gets her next chewies.

Because it is so close to home, and I will be able to telecommute (or work from home) much of the time, and with even more recent layoffs in my field and market, I didn't see a strong reason to go through a long-drawn process of re-negoitiating the offer.

Once I've the written offer signed, sealed and delivered, I am gonna celebrate big time!

The big boss called this afternoon and asked if I'm excited to be going to work there... or "here" from his vantage point. Duh! That's a no-brainer. On one hand, I can watch dust collect and try selling it on Ebay. On the other, I can have a paying job. Hmmm. Let's see; which do I prefer :D.

According to the Big Man, the company says it will pick up my COBRA for one month. That's by his "math," since he says the company's PPO won't kick-in until the end of August. Okay by meeee; it won't be money I'll have to kiss bye-bye and miss.

The pooch is definitely going to get her chewies! She's also going to get a day at poochie day care - so I can attend a wedding. I was going to have to skip it, since I have not been willing to part with any money if that spending is not a necessity. (It's a four-hour round-trip for the wedding, and my pooch can't attend.) But... now: I am open to going.

That is such good news Bobbi. I understand about the wedding and pooch problem. I am most likely going to miss my oldest Granddaughter's Wedding reception for the same reason you may have missed a wedding.

I missed her wedding because it was in Cabo, Mexico but must find $ for doggie lodging if I am to attend her reception. We'll see. Right now I'm just so happy he is doing so much better and my car is ready to p/u in the morning. It better work right!!! And pass emission test which will be first stop, then on to get updated tags:o

I hope you love the job and it lasts for as long as you want it to.......and the insurance will be what you can use without a bunch of red tape.

Now, just hope you stay smoke free from all the fires.

Smoke free? That's been impossible here. With all the fires, it's been choking smoke - health advisories and all. :(

Finally, news is interviewing people who are expressing as I have: The initial response was not as aggressive as it should have/could have been, which, in turn, made aerial response impossible.

The state is on the highest federal alert level, thanks to the fires and the potential for more.

If I didn't have heart probs. before now... well, I did, so that'd be a moot point for me to relate :D.

I've kept the pooch indoors, except for doing her business, SS.

BTW: There are some pet supply stores, and I won't mention the names, that are now offering "day care" services. I'm asking a neighbor's mom, first, my pooch's doc next, and, also checking into the day care. Wanna make sure she has care or else it's still no wedding attendance. I can't and won't leave my baby "stuck" inside for more than 4 or so hours. She would be so miserable, and she does need to do her stuff outside. I made a commitment to her the day she picked me.

If everything goes as I'm anticipating, I should start the new job on Wednesday. (It takes between 3 and 5 days for the background check - also accounting for the holiday.)

I was told I can start earlier, only I won't be paid. I'm eager, but not that excited. ;).

Bobbi,
I'm so happy for you, I sure know the stress you have been under and it has to be a great relief.
Give Pooch a chewy from me and tell her how lucky you are to have each other.

Thanks!!! :)

I know that I will have to move - because I can't get upstairs anyway. But, I much prefer it be on my terms and when the market isn't so depressed. The thought of moving based on external factors was the biggest stressor and making me sad just thinking about it.

Will give the pooch her chewie this evening.

When I look at her, all I do is smile, knowing we don't have to move right now.

I received the written job offer yesterday. All I need to do, now, is sign and date it.

My neighbor is helping me go over the insurance plans, etc. (She works in H.R. at a diff. company and understands all of that stuff.)

Bobbi it is great news. It seem to be coming in both of our lives. It is great to feel better knowing bills will get paid. I know that a lone can put stress on us and make our pain worse at times. But this surely will help. Enjoy your new job. I am very happy for you.

((( Thank you, Deb )))

This seems to be a good month for us! I know that you certainly understand the stress and can appreciate the relief all of this brings.

You need your bathroom fixed; I need my kitchen floor re-done. I'm going to give everything a few months, and then... this floor is outta here. :)
