I went to PM Dr on Wed and I guess the ride there and back didn't help much. Then I weeded the garden with the hoe. I am really down in my back bad. I can't move for the pain. I think it is my bulge disk acting up. It comes and goes with each time is worse. I just said in other post I was doing so good. I bet I will not say a think about it again. I had to take my grand Daughter to Bible School It was the last night and had a show. I went to lift my foot in the Van and cryed from the pain. I and to turn around and slid in. I didn't make it thought the program I had to get up and go out side. So I will not say how well I am doing till I knock on wood first.LOL

I'm so sorry Deb, but you say what you want to say!!:p You have some of the things I have and I know how quick it can go haywire and make you want to scream~~

Today I am in mega pain, how did I get this way?? had several bad steps!:(now how did I do this and WHY?? nights I'm not worth a hoot today. The only hope is go when it is very bad and get an injection.

See Deb, when I am in a lot of pain my tongue tends to get loose and I talk too much. Please shut my mouth . Thank you. Now, You say what you want to say. Our pain comes and goes, never disappears.
Just 1 piece of advice, ~~~~ GO BURN THAT HOE!! I know it hurt me to give some of things up, like having a small graden, Love getting my hands in dirt and play around:D
Vent all you want, I'm hear and others are too. I really do hope you are feeling a little better at least.

*hugs Jo

Sorry to hear about the pain Deb!. But don't feel bad about saying one day you are fine and the next you aren't. I do it all the time! ;) So, I know what you are saying. Jo is right though...it just comes and goes all the time. And I feel as you do. I am having mid back pain; actually around the kidneys. Where I received the injections I am great! But where this came from I have no clue. OTHER THAN I went to eat lunch with my friend and we shopped a bit. I was NOT carrying anything heavy. However, she bought a potted plant and I just got a hold of it and set it in her yard. It wasn't heavy but I must have just pulled or strained some muscles because it was kind of awkward. So, it is either a spinal thing or just poor body mechanics...I don't know which. I am a little better today but yesterday was bad! And I have to agree and laugh with Jo...get rid of the hoe. :) I told my husband today I am not doing a DARN thing to aggravate this further.

Don't you just hate it that when you feel good and think you are doing better your body reminds you that you shouldn't forget that it still has pain. I am sorry you are in so much pain now. It is too bad when we do regular activities and it causes so much pain.

the time has come.....We are not the same healthy, strong, virile, energetic, flexible, vibrant, and robust creatures we were before. SO!!! No more doing those things that we absolutely know we cannot do, like hoeing, or digging, or carrying heavy laundry. These are the things that we aren't capable of anymore. No one expects us to do these things, even though we wish we could do them again.

It would not be worth doing further permanent damage by overdoing the things that we think we need to do. We are not wimps, but we are more fragile than before.

If other people had to trade places with us for 1 day, they would live in fear that we would want them to try it again.

Love and one-armed hugs to all,

Mary Diane *cg06

Deb,

There is nothing saying you have to have all good days! It seems none of us know from dy to day how we are going to feel, let alone hour to hour. So vent away! We all need to some time.

Funny, I just posted about doc's walking a day in our shoes and I look here and see basicly the same thing here:p Seems we all think a like at times.

I find watching westerns (I know weird) helps and doesn't cost me any money! I do have a stash of gems and order many gifts from QVC, shopping online and via TV is my type of shopping!

Have a great day, and don't do anything you know is going to cause you pain!

I agree-toss out the hoe! Along with any shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows. This is your new life-no yard work! Think of it as early retirement, make adjustments.

I'm convinced one of the worse things we do for our spines is simply getting in/out of vehicles. Take your time, use a grip handle if possible-keep pressure off the spine as much as you can.

It's a live & learn experience eh? Sometimes just a simple act can be the wrong thing to do.

(((((gentle hugs to all)))))

Yes, you are soooooo right, pain is a pain in the butt, or wherever. I'll tell ya what, My philosophy has become of late, if I get up and feel remakably well, I'm gonna work my As_ off, because, I know I am going to hurt later. But the chances are good I'm going to hurt later anyhow. Either way I am gonna hurt so I am not going to put off my life one more day just in case it might hurt. It's gonna hurt! It's gonna hurt! When I sit around and do nothing, I have pain. And I sit around and do nothing often, because I wake up in pain and can't even get into a project.

Or, the flip side is, I barely wake up, I spend the entire day in one of those haze type clouds where all of a sudden you peer at the clock, suddenly realizing it's time for the evening news and wonder, what the H--, ahem pardon me.

So, bottom line for me is, if I wake up feeling GREAT, and want to "Hoe" (not, i hate hoeing around), or build someting in my shop, or create a "great" work of art, heeheehee or paint the deck, well, that's exactly what I am going to do. And later, when I hurt to high heaven, I can say, OH YEAH!, I hurt because I accomplished something today, rather than more normal pain that is just there for no particular reason other than to remind me I am.

I love you guys,

Hoops,

LOL! I am going to agree with the inactivity bit. I wrote earlier that I was going to lie down because of the mid back spasms the other day. Well, I did that; slept most of the day away yesterday and it was NOT due to meds at all because I just took the usual. So, I just used moist heat and ice. I don't know what all that sleeping was about lol, because I slept just fine through the night too. But dang if I didn't feel worse everywhere else this morning. So, I know what you are saying. I also agree with what my PM said the other day...inactivity just breeds more pain for spinal people. That's not to say that we don't need time out, but he was right. :D No wonder he is always saying to TRY to push through it. He doesn't mean kill yourself; just do something to keep moving it doesn't have to be heavy duty; just light exercise. But I realize it is tough sometimes too.

Maybe someone should invent a body meter for pain. If it's in the red we take it easy? I've also found on those days I do nothing all day except sit in my recliner with the heating pad on.......I end up hurting even more the next day. Not always but sometimes. And I ask myself how can I hurt so much when I did nothing? It all depends on the pain/depression/extreme fatique cycle with me. I'll take all the good days I can get & suffer later. A day wasted is just that-wasted.
