Hi All

Thanks for all the prayers. I also appreciate the advice. Today raffi saw the Neuro Opthamologist and she confirmed papilledema behind both eyes. I was relieved to find out that the NS had been in touch with her. She explained to me that an I.C.P monitor that has been in for 8 days runs a higher risk for infection. That is why Dr.D is not rushing Raffi to the OR. Also the MRI has been booked for Saturday the 28th. Raffi's vision in his left eye has worsened since last week, but not enough to alarm her.
WE will stay put. She assured me that there is enough evidence of increased I.C.P to justify a shunt revision and that she would be putting that opinion in a LOUD letter to the NS.
I have faith in the NS to do the job. He is known as the MASTER with regards to his abilities, so I will allow him to perform his magic.
There is no time to raise money and besides I am sure things will be getting done here within the next 2 weeks.
I have borrowed as much as I can foresee(sp) myself paying back. My family has been very supportive. Once Raffi is healthy and well I want to be able to provide him with whatever he may need. The hole I am in is just deep enough for me to get out of a few years down the road.
I want Raffi to be well and since they will do it here than that is an answered prayer.
He is o.k tonight. He dips only for a few minutes and then he is his happy little self and then he dips again.. he is trying to fake me a out a bit but that is alright.
I hope you are all well and I do pray for all of you as well.
Thanks
Love
Marilou

So glad to hear that Raffi will probably be getting his revision done soon AND here where it won't cost you anything :)

You had told me about the infection issue.
I guess it is hard to decide re risk of infection to risk of delaying. But I know you have said it would be horrible if he did get an infection with all the "hardware" Raffi has in his head, so praying for no infection and no or very minimal permanent vision loss! And of course for a successful revision so you can get back to Mexico and your job and "normal" life!

Hugs and love,
Cathy

I am so glad that you found a doctor who took the time to explain the why of their reasoning. Hugs. Karen

I am very glad to hear that Raffi is going to get the help and relief he needs soon. however one should keep in the back of their minds that no one is the master of anything and no one is infallable, no matter what the reuptation may be. Keep us posted so i can send good thought and prayer whenever he has his procedure!
