Your doctor might not warn you about it, but some thyroid patients get bouts of uncontrollable rage when their thyroid levels drop. This is true in both Hashimoto's disease and Graves' disease.
Anyone experiencing bouts of uncontrollable rage should get these tests done: TSH, free t3 and free t4. You want your free ts to be in their upper range, not down at them minimum and certainly not below.
If your test results are at all abnormal, get the thyroid antibody tests anti-TPO and TSI done.
Good luck to all of you. I feel your pain; been there but now I'm much improved due to proper thyroid treatment.
kitINstLOUIS thank you so much for taking the time to post this. This might be helpful for family members or friends to know about as well and possibly suggest this at the right time rather than just avoid someone who has anger problems. I appreciate the thouroug details that you gave.

Not only rage... but other uncharacteristic emotional reactions.
I recall an ice storm here, and we were without power for over 4 days.
I had just started Synthroid .05... and it seemed to be working properly.
But by day 4 of these very low temps I couldn't cope anymore and had a major crying jag, including vomiting and other physical things.
Right away my husband called the endo...and sure enough he said it was a hypo crisis, due to the temperature stressor. And I was raised in dose.
I didn't have a "rage" per se... but I certainly was not myself!

This is very interesting. I had refused thyroid medication because mine was still in the normal range, but it was borderline hypothyroid. I will be discussing treatment with my doctor now.
Thank you.

what scale is your doc using? if he is still on the "old" one.....your TSH was NOT normal......i believe the new thought is 3.5 and under......and thyroid issues should always be considered with psych issues....have you looked into celica/gluten sensitivity , we have a forum here...gluten sensitivity/celiac, come visit

Maybe this is not totally related but before I was diagnosed with hypothydroidism I would get angry over the smallest things, not that I've ever had a long fuse, but it was pretty horrible throwing warm, luckily not hot tea at my sister etc.
Anyways as I read stuff I wrote then, pretty horrible to accept that I felt this way  Anyways if I forget my meds I can definently notice that I'm slightly more aggressive even now.. Yikes!
