two ?-tramadol

I take 100mg. of tramadol every morning for OA pain. Once in a while I have to take another dose at night or take ibuprofen later in the day. I didn't take it one day to see what would happen-I experienced really crushing pains in my knees. Now I'm afraid not to take it. I think my question is "Can the tramadol really prevent a lot of pain?"
2nd ?- My friend takes tramadol when needed. I thought that it had to be taken on a regular basis to be effective. Can it be both?

You can take it as needed. So yes it can be both. I didn't get that much help from tramadol. Meds work different with every one. I am glad you have.

My dog takes tramedol for her hip dysplasia and arthritis. It makes her angry.

Funny we take the same drugs as our dogs!
