The Pons

Yes, I know it is part of the brain and if I remember rightly the hindbrain that connects the higher brain functions to the spinal cord. ( I may be wrong here)

Apparently my wife has a leasion? shadow? defect? I can't remember what the doctors called the malfunction.

What I would like to know is in what way would this Pons 'malfuction' be contributing to my wifes 24/7 degree of pain?

What does it do?

I Googled and found out that the Pons/Pontine is the brain stem. You didn't say what type of pain your wife is having. If she is having migraines the the answer is a definite YES.

It does direct all brain functions down the spinal column. I couldn't find a lot regarding specific types of pain.

I entered "spinal pain brain pons" you may want to try other combinations.

wolfie , i dont knoiw much about whats going on with your wife but i am very sorry to hear she is still having alot of trouble in life ,, i know her struggle has been a long one , its good to see your still around its been a long time , i hope your holding up well thru all this ,,,,,,,,,,, Dave

A quick update is that 'Rap' (my wife) is in hospital at the moment having a bowel obstruction sorted out.

She is no longer able to stand let alone walk and she has little control over her legs.

Her skin is still very painful but under the skin is numb... if that makes sense.

The docs are thinking cancer of the pons or maybe MS (again), her nocturnal seizures are now worse, diabetic neucrosis has been diagnoed and a partridge in a pear tree

We are thinking of getting help from our local hospice even if only for respite care.

C'est la vie.

Wolfie, sorry to hear your wife is in the hospital. She sure has gone through the wringer and I wish she could find some relief. I know it must be tough on you to deal with her health issues along with your own health problems. I wish you both the best and if you go with the hospice I hope it allows her time to get better and you time to rest up.
