Hello all....new to this site and just looking for some others that may be suffering from the same things I am. I was involved in a car accident in 2004 and ever since have had pain and stiffness in the neck and head, severe headaches, fatigue and some depression. I have been seeing a neurologist since the accident and he has diagnosed me with Occipital Neurolgia and Cervical Radiculitis. I have had several injections (Cortizone injections, 3 Bilateral Occipital Nerve Blocks and just recently a C2 Ganglion Block) Since the Ganglion block I have had some shooting pain through the back of my head and now some strange "twitching" and just an overall "odd" feeling in the back of my head. Anyone else out there experiencing anyting like this???? This has been so frustrating!
Any insight?
Thanks,
Mommyinpain

Hi,

I just stumbled in here and wanted to say I have had several occipipal blocks since my car accident. My question is have you seen a spinal doc? You really should as the problems you are having could be spine related as mine is. Neurologists are not always the best was to go. They know nerves however are not always best with spines. Please see a spinal doc, and have an MRI, spine series, xrays etc and have he/she look at them. A Neurosurgeon tried to diagnose me with several things and said I had no spinal issues. I later saw a spine doc and things did a 180. Please think about what I have said.

Take care,
Kathy

hi mommy in pain.... i have only just stumbled upon this site as well, and whereas i dont have any cures it just feels so good to hear your story as it matches mine. I too had a car crash in 2004 have been through 42 different docs and proceedures and still got the most overwhelmingly 'odd' feeling of tightness in th eback of my head that stops me from thinking...this, combined with pain that shoots up over the top and numbness of the right side of my head and face is driving me mad.. i am 45 and told i wil never work again and that the symptoms will never go away...surely cant believe this...it drives me mad and i get very low during accute attacks. the worst thing though is the loneliness and the fact that noone has heard of this. cheers

oh... and i had the facial twitching too...what stopped that was radio frequency leesion treatment....mind you i had to go all the way to india for that! other things that help are..lying still doing nothing (but then i go mad) hot weather (high pressure seems to help...anyone else found that going in planes makes it worse?) tens machine, distraction, i was on huge amount of morphine for 2 years...big mistake...it just made me so ill. Could quite happily cut a chunk out of my head most days. When it was at its worst and i was getting accute attacks almost every hour I tried to take my own life twice...i did not want to die, just could not live with the pain. CBT therapy has helped a bit in this respect. ...oh and hugs help a lot too

My spine was injured in auto accident in 06, I've had cervical fusions of C-4 through C-7 in 07. In Jan. 09 I had bilateral Occipital Nerve blocks. I'm wondering what do you feel when they it starts to wear off? It feels like bugs crawling in my ears lately, have had 2 doctors check my ears and no problems with them.

I've had two direct occipital blocks and when the first one started to wear off, the pain gradually returned. It didn't happen all at once, but gradually increased in intensity to my head, eyes, forehead, and neck. I've never felt as though bugs were crawling in my ears, but that doesn't mean anything. We all seemed to have variances in our wiring. I hope this helps!
