Hi,
I've had 7 months of symmetrical, wide-spread pain. Have been diagnosed with fibromylagia. Still have some finger and toe deformity, with rheumatoid arthritis and other things ruled out at this point. Been for rheumatology appts., including a 2nd opinion at Mass Gen. Hosp., orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, etc.
After a 3 day virus with high fever last week, I've suddenly felt incredible relief of the symptoms (pain, fatigue, headache, etc.), after the fever. Seems like there was some immunological connection. Is this just a lapse that may have flare up again? Just so strange to feel so well--so energetic and little/no pain again. Can't be coincidental following those days of fever.
Hmm? Any thoughts?
Sue

I guess in this situation it would be a wait and see. It would be incredible if your "cured" wouldn't it?

HI,
Boy, would it be great for this to have been some transient thing, never to return!
Thanks for the reply!

Time for you to start looking into mycoplasma, chlamydial, and lyme infections. There are several bacterial infections Fibromyalgia specialists are now testing and treating for with good success. Look at some of the antibiotic boards you will see people recovering even from MS.
Lots of info out there you can find if you search for "fibromyalgia mycoplasma" etc. Many of us fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue people being treated for this after positive pcr tests. Youll have to search and read to understand more.
Search for "antibiotics fibromyalgia"
or look through sites like
http://www.immed.org
Roadback foundation (search for it)
http://www.cpnhelp.org (i tested positive for c.pneumonia)
If fever helps your problems you likely are one of us who end up with fibro- RA etc.
For a doctor in the know go to endfatigue.com practitioners list. I found a very excellent doctor there. Endfatigue.coms protocols for treating fibro have helped me a lot and the doctor who runs that site is top notch in what he does. They treat fibro or fatigue by starting with sleep and pain then looking at hormones and infections. They also treat with vitamins and may look at chronic viral problems.
It took me 6 years of researching into this before I found a knowledgeable doctor and got the tests done. Ive been on the antibiotics for a month now. Its all very interesting. There are doctors out there treating fibro successfully by using a variety of treatments depending on the patient. Infections has become one of the common steps involved.
By the way I ended up in this because I had run fevers for the first 3 years of having bad fibromyalgia and a few years ago I took a course of zithromax for an infection and felt well for a month. Leading me to research into antibiotics for fibromyalgia.

My fibro, on occasion, subsides when I'm taking tetracycine, usually for a respiratory infection. I've had mycoplasma pneumonia twice (at least). I'm an elementary school teacher, and it made the rounds the first two years I worked.

This is interesting about the antibiotics helping. I have a friend with FMS and when she came down with the flu last year and was put on strong antibiotics, she said she felt better. I wonder how that can be? Of course her feeling better was short lived, but it makes you wonder, dosen't it?
