My mouse acts like it needs batteries..It is hanging up and won't move at times....I put new batteries in it and sometimes if I shake it or move it around fast then it'll work.
What do I need to do?

thanks so much

Is it a ball tracking or optical mouse?... sounds like it needs a clean either way.

Bewolf, how do you clean an optical mouse? I haven't had mine long so it doesn't need cleaning now but as much as I use it I am sure it will before long. : ) I got good at cleaning my ball-tracking one!
Thanx,
Izzy~

It's an Optical mouse and how do you clean it?

An optical mouse has no ball. Instead, it uses an infrared sensor to track movements over a surface. It be used directly on a desktop and does not need a mouse pad.

To clean an optical mouse:

1. Use a pair of tweezers to pull out debris and build-up in the optical mouse's eyehole. Just a strand of hair can cause problems with a mouse's LED sensor.

Mouse is worse than before...Would it help if I uninstalled it or should I just go out & buy a new one...I';m thinking it's probably about 1 1/2 or 2 yrs ld.

It's driving me nuts...lol

If you've tried replacing the batteries and cleaning the sensor and it is still playing up then you might be as well replacing it with a new one.

One last thing before you get another ... is it a wireless, optical mouse? If it is, press the reconnect button on the underside to see if it's that. If not, I'd get another.

Just a thought..If I uninstalled and then re-installed it, would that maybe work. I just got this March of 05....If I hit the bottom of the mouse then it'll work for a few seconds..

It surely wouldn't hurt anything if you did :)

Sounds like a loose connection. If it is a wired mouse there is probably a break in the cable due to wear and tear.

Thanks McFox
Problem solved and I'm embarrassed to tell you what happened.
I was messing around with it by clicking on the connect button and don't know why but I turned the keyboard over and saw it held Batteries and said to myself...you dumb sh**...Put new ones in and works like a charm..:o :o and I'm not even a blonde....:) :)
