Guess this is as good a place as any to post this. I thought we had a forum for migraines?

Anyway, I know an 86yr old man suffering from daily migraines. My housemate is taking him to the doc in the morning. My thought is that he needs a brain MRI & the sooner the better, and a referral to a neuro. Does anyone have other suggestions? He's having 5-6 migraines per day now!!

He has an annie in his leg & is taking alot of meds. He also gets B12 shots every other week. He's lost alot of weight, lives alone & has no appetite. We urge him to at least drink Ensure for the nutrients, but no idea if he does this regularly or not.

I think he has a shunt for the annie, but my memory isn't that great on keeping up with all his issues,(he's just a dear old guy-not a relative).

Any ideas would be appreciated....thanks.

How long does each migraine last? My daughter had migraines diagnosed at 2, and they usually lasted about 1/2day (4 days tops when she was older). Everyone is different. She sometimes liked an ice cold compress put on her head/forehead. In her case, MRI did not show the cause, but we now suspect nutrition (gut issues) may have contributed. CoQ10 helped her. You say this man doesn't eat. Maybe it is nutritional with him as well, but the MRI is really critical, and I agree -- the sooner the better.

He's getting the MRI right now. Then has an appointment this afternoon with his reg doc to go over the results. This is being done where I had my brain & spinal MRI's. I have zero faith in the radiologist there- who wrote my brain lesions weren't significant at my age......whatever that's supposed to mean!

I'll keep in mind about the COQ10,used to take the stuff myself. I do know it's not good to take with some meds so would need to do some research.

Also found out the old guy has 2 annies. One in leg & one in chest area. They suspect he has internal bleeding but don't know where. All rather confusing!

Appreciate your reply & hope your daughter is doing fine now.
