My mother has been having blood issues for several years. She's had a bone marrow biopsy and every type of scan imaginable. All results are normal. She looks and feels fine except for some fatigue which is understandable. She's 72 and certainly doesn't look or act like it.
Her WBC counts are down to 1.4 and now her red blood cells, hemaglobin, MCV are down below normal range along with some of the other counts.
Finally, yesterday, the doctor termed it idiopathic anemia. She's trying prednisone. I can't help but be concerned about an underlying cause for this. I know idiopathic means no known cause but the key word here is "known." What about the unknown?
I'd like to hear of anyone's experience or knowledge of this.
Thanks,
Carol
