Well, it's great to be back! I can't believe what a comfort it is to see the 'old' names again!!:D and I'm looking forward to 'getting to know' the new names as well.;) I sure hope everyone is doing as well as can be, and the summer served you well.
I want to say thanks to Steve; I had been planning at some time in my future to try physio, and reading Steves thread about his summer gave me the push I needed. I have been going to a lady that is a type of physiotherapist and have been having good luck with it. She took me off of everything I was taking, (vit's included--scariest thing I've done since getting married!) She basically told me that my guts weren't working (knew that), and that taking the vit's weren't doing me any good until they were working again. She also took me off of my meds, but put me on a special diet. Well it hasn't been that long; but so far so good. My pain is a little better than with meds, and the flare-ups are further apart and less severe. I'm hoping that once I heal a little more, and go back on my vit's; it will be even better.
I'm going to take this opportunity to say thanks to Wings as well! I was on his vit program over the summer-and it made a huge difference in my life. So thanks, I look forward to going back on it.
While I'm gushing here, I just want to thank everyone who took the time to post back to me on all of my questions in the old forum, (especially Mrs. D and rose), You all sure helped me get my life back under MY control, knowledge has sure helped. You guys are all great, and I look forward to the new forum!:)
I figured I'd better get that off my chest quick, just incase I lose you all again!:p
So there is my ramble, thanks for listening

Make sure you do not stay off the B12 too long. She may not realize that 1000 mcg at a time allows enough to rebuild stores even if malabsorption is severe. If that is the case, it is extremely doubtful (if possible at all) that the level of malabsorption will improve.
Severe malabsorption requires life-long high dose B12, at least periodically.

:D
However, if your "gut" is not working properly, how are you absorbing
nutrients?
So in that area I am confused. Malabsorption can occur with Crohn's, Celiac, etc, or infection of the GI tract by GI bugs.
So I agree with rose on that point.
But I am glad you are feeling better as well!

Hi all,
I guess I should be a bit more specific. She thinks that my stomach is a little out of place--in that it is pushed over a bit, and my colon is drooping, (can't tell you how hard my husband laughed), causing everything to be out of wack so to speak. She said to come off of everything until it is back in line; then go back on my regime. She figures that I am not absorbing much of anything at this point. I can honestly say that it frightens me to be off, but equally I feel I must give this a chance. As soon as I'm on again; I doubt that I will ever not take B12. Some of the saving grace is the diet that I am on; it is very high in some of the vitamins that I was taking.
thanks heidi:)

I'm sorry Heidi, but this just doesn't sound right. Have you ever been tested for gluten intolerance. Saying your stomach is out of line just sounds weird. Don't do this for too long, please. If you felt better on Wings advice about vitamins, why stop taking them.
Maybe another opinion, I'm worried about you.

Hi Heidi,
I have to agree with Darlindeb. This just doesn't sound right. Please check into this further. I just don't quite understand it all.
Also Worried,

Well, I can safely say, MY stomach is out of line.... I have a birth defect that
makes it so. As a matter of fact it is so rare that doctors don't often even see it! It is called malrotation. (my whole GI tract is messed up as well).
I have a "drooping" colon as well, and it is looped up only on the left side!
You know this reminds me of a person a friend went to. This "healer" was supposed to check her out to see if her meds were working right.
Know what this "healer" did? She had my friend lie down, and she put each
bottle of drugs/or vits on my friends stomach and then did some chanting and raising of the arms, with eyes closed to "pronounce" the good or bad effect.
I couldn't believe it! It was so hokey! This "healer" came to the conclusion that the Dyazide (for blood pressure) had to go, and so my friend went back to her doctor and bingo...changed meds. I never understood it however!
I have heard of chiropractors putting your substances under the tongue and checking muscle strength--kinesiology... but sometimes I am just mystified by what is out there!
I think basically that YOU are the best person to tell what works for you.
Just like the parallel that The Mother knows best for her own child. We need to have that faith in ourselves sometimes!

hi everyone,
thanks for all of your concern...I know this whole thing sounds super hokey; and to say that I'm not skeptical is a bit of an understatement.
But I just can't deny the effects. Although I do believe that the diet is a super help here. (I'm not convinced that I am not a bit sensitive to the gluten diet). My neuro believes that the pain in my hands is caused by carpal and not pn; this woman agrees with this and is working on my hands for this as well as my feet. She believes that my stomach problems occur because of a bad accident I was in about 17 yrs ago. (got beat up by a cow-my life just always has to sound stupid I swear) It was actually quite severe to be honest.
I am thrilled to be off of Topomax, and she swears that it is useless to be on any vit's because I am not absorbing them, and I will go back on as things improve.
All I can do is try it, and hope for the best.
thanks, heidi:D

How does she know you are not absorbing them?
You know I could see someone explaining that removing variables from a
treatment may be important to assess the effectiveness of the intervention.
That would be a plausible scenario. If you continue with vitamins, and then get better, it would not be possible to say which is working.
But this mumbo jumbo answer is rather misleading and patronizing, and giving
more power to the therapist than need be. Mumbo Jumbo answers like this point to quacky situations, and arouse skepticism.
What kind of diet? Is this a low sugar diet to remove Candida perhaps?
Getting kicked by a cow sounds like a horrible injury. And you know you could have adhesions from the scarring of that.
No advice just want to welcome you back and I felt the same way, glad to have a place to come back too after such a long wait.

well I was back there again today and she worked on my wrists, and my stomach. She believes that my stomach is tipped back and pushing on my lungs, after she manouvered it to where it is supposed to be, my breathing was much improved.
I agree it does sometimes feel like mumbojumbo, and I do still feel skeptical, but I can't deny the results.
My diet;
breakfast..smoothie- this is 1 cup frozen berries, 1 cup juice, 2 tblsp Udo's oil, 1 tblsp wheat germ, 1 small container yougurt.
lunch...soup and a salad
supper...salad, veggies, chicken or fish (must eat fish three times a week)
that's it, pretty simple.
how would a person know if there were adhesions in the stomach and what would it cause?
It has always bothered me that no one would look at anything with my stomach, when by my own theory this is where the problem lies. If this is where a person absorbs B12, then there must be a problem here.
I may be wrong, just don't know enough I guess (as usual-just don't tell my husband I admitted to this, deny, deny deny!)
thanks for everyones input and support, much appreciated.
