any readers here....
I am searching for some good books by good writers....
any recommendations are hearty welcome
What kind of books do you like? I really loved the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldan. It combines history with fantasy(time travel). Sounds strange but it is really well done! Most libraries have at least the 1st 3 books,(Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager) and after that you will be totally hooked. I also highly recommend The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. Good luck and please post anything you recommend too!

Mitch Albom's books, though I haven't read the most recent one yet. The books look short and quick to read, but don't let that deceive you. :) There is a lot of food for thought in them.

If you like realistic, beautifully written fantasy, try
"A Fine and Private Place" by Peter Beagle (also wrote "The Last Unicorn", which sounds childish but makes me cry everytime I read it. I learned so much from both these books!)
Little, Big" by John Crowley. I just recieved this one a few months ago and have only read a bit; it's really beautiful but the chapters are very differantly arranged; they go by ideas instead of by Chapter numbers. About a man who no one really cares about or love, finding the love of his life--only, she's a bit more than that! Magical, beautifully written prose-like book about magic in modern day things, older things, and how we can find ourselves in both. It reads like it could really happen. Wonderful thus far!
I've also been buying children book series for my cousin and my baby neice, (for when she is older.) If you want a quick read that's part of a series, there's this hillarious 4-book-set called "The Enchanted Forest Chronicles"...about a Princess...who hates being a princess...and goes off to live with Dragons! I know it sounds silly but it is the funniest thing I've read all year! It's by Patricia Wrede.
Also check out "Holly Claus" for a beautiful YA Christmas story.....by Brittany Ryan...just came into paperback, very affordable and such a unique story! Lots of magic, love, and not-your-everyday-cast, including flying merpeople, Roc, Faeries from Russia, Sweden, France, and all around. I'm rereading this one. Sure to be a Holiday classic, and it doesn't deal directly with Christmas--it deals with the spirit that comes only during any of the Winter Holidays, and how it can change people.

Oh - here a site that you put in an authors name that you like and it will show a grouping of authors with similar styles.
