Hello everyone! My name is Ember. I had an severe SAH on September 30th which was highly suggestive for a basilar tip aneurysm, but two weeks in ICU, three CT scans, an MRI, MRA, and two angiograms later, no annie was actually found. I am told that the risk of another bleed is very low, but they are monitoring me several times a year now with MRAs to make sure I don't have any small annies that haven't been picked up yet. There is more to the story of course, but that's the basics.
This has been a very strange and difficult journey for me, and I am glad to find online support! Thanks for listening.

Hi Ember,
Regardless if an annie was actually found, you've been through an ordeal and survived it! I found this board to be of great comfort.

Thanks guys! :) I needed the boost today.
When I was in the hospital I was under the impression that I had a "cherry sized bleed" and that it was likely to be a ruptured vein and not an annie. I don't know where I got that. It wasn't until I saw my neurosurgeon earlier this week that I got the whole story. She said I had 2-3 cm of blood throughout the subarachnoid space and that she was shocked that she didn't find an annie. I guess not just the amount but the pattern of the blood made her pretty sure they would be coiling at least. When I thought that it was a small bleed and they didn't find anything to fix, it was easy to just get on with things and start thinking about getting back to my normal life. For some reason, it just seems more up in the air now, like even with all the tests there *might* be something that could cause me problems someday.
I never lost any brain function, just had a screaming headache, neck pain and stiffness, and vomiting when I came in. So, the scans said I probably had an annie but my clinical picture voted more for a non-aneurysm SAH and since they couldn't be sure I was treated as if I had an annie.
Ew, I also got a sterile meningitis from all the blood draining down my spinal column once I got home and started moving around more. Ow. Glad that's over. Now, I just get incredibly tired and have headaches most every day.
Thanks again for the reassurance, it's been a hard day.
Love!
Ember

Hey Amber -
Well you are a unusual case indeed! Happy to hear you are now doing well and it sounds like your staying on top of it. Any bleed in the noggin is ugly. Good luck!
Craig
