I never thought to post my work over here but was encouraged by someone to do so. I've been doing this work for about a year now and love it.
I create them on canvas frames using a modeling paste. The black keys were made out of wood and then coated with the compound. The ornamental embellishments were bought at a home improvement store and coated in the same manner. The notes are coated in real silver leaf and them enhanced with a black glaze.
I also make smaller pieces. When I get a chance I'll set it up and send a link to show you those too if anyone is interested.
These were ordered for Mother's day. I think I'm going to make myself a long piano keyboard for over the fire place. They turned out kind of cool and I wanted to share them.

Linda,
Thank you very much for sharing your work of art with us... they're beautiful gifts you're giving us here... :)
I find that creating and sharing Art is very soothing for the soul... and is as necessary as food, water and air... all forms of Art are, although some people are particularly more talented or more attracted to some of them... :)

You said you are working with the same materials? I've been thinking about submitting some of my work to the Liquitex artist of the month campaign. I would also like to work with some recycled pieces, they would be great in my collage work. Do you have some pictures to share? I would love to see them if you do.
It's nice to meet a fellow artist!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you are right, art is soothing to the soul and it makes feel less useless. But sometimes, even this makes me hurt. I realized that as I was standing over the saws cutting and measuring those little black keys. But, I can't think of any other way to make them look as real. I was really pleased with the white keys too, better than I ever expected actually.
It will be nice to share some tips and tricks with you.

Hi Linda,
that's a very good idea to participate in such a campaign w Liquitex, if you have the time and the energy... your art is beautiful and very inspiring too... do they publish a magazine or a e-mag ? I'll google this to see...
right now, I only have unfinished projects (sewing and painting)... :o but as soon as something is done, I certainly will be glad to share it here... all this is very exciting and energizing !!! :D
here is the link to a wonderful artist in my area who specializes in "recycl'Art"... her website is in French but you can click on "portfolio" to see her gallery... as a picture is worth 1000 words... I have seen her works of art... I see myself in her work... she is very inspiring... she gives classes too (in Gatineau, Qc !)... I called her for info on her classes... she is not afraid of sharing her experience with people... you will certainly enjoy visiting her website too... :D
