My nephew within the past few months was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Right now he is on abilify. IS this a good drug for this? He does not seem to "be all there" for a lack of better terms. He is still in the psy ward at the hospital. He recently beat his mom and step dad up. He has hallicunations and delusions.
I hate seeing him this way. He was a straight a student in college and got into drugs and then boom. The doctors think the drugs triggered the schizophrenia. WHat kind of long term ( until meds are regulated) in house treatment is good?
This is his 2nd or 3rd time in the psy ward in the past 3 mos.
He gets upset at the color red, often thinks people are plotting against him, and that people are wired & taping him. He gets upset because my sister cannot "read" his mind and thinks he has the "formula" for figuring out when the end of time is...
Can anyone help with some advice? What about he med. lithium?? I know this is a potent med however my nephew needs something pretty strong. I am fimiliar with some meds because my own son has TOurettes Syndrome, adhd and ocd.
