Hello all......I wanted to let all of you wonderful people here know that once I was diagnosed with a 6 mm opthalmic aneurysm.....I spent hours reading this forum as a visitor. I had so many questions and most of them were answered right here just by reading your posts. I didn't know whether to clip or coil my aneurysm...but after reading your posts I decided to stent and coil my annie.
Had a great recovery and will have my 3 month mra in July I do have one question though.......I am losing my hair..Is this a side effect of the procedure and if so will it stop soon:confused:

Hi Diane, welcome to the site. I'm glad to hear you got your annie taken care of, that's great. I never lost any large amounts of hair, but, my doc said it could happen..Others on here have had that problem. I'm sure it will stop soon, and will grow back..take care

Welcome Diane,
I loss hair on both of my coilings. It does grow back. I was told it's from the radiation used during the coiling procedure. I was bald after my rupture but after the second coiling I had only lost a little hair because it didn't take them that long to insert the coils and stent.

Hi Diane,
Welcome the the forum. A great group of people with a lot of knowledge. I had a rupture in Jan. that required 5 stents and I don't know how many coils. Surgury lasted 4 or 5 hrs. Anyway 4 weeks later my hair started falling out. I freaked. If the Dr. would have only told me I could have prepared myself. He did say the hair loss (5" by 6" patch) was from lasering/radiation. I went out and bought a wig, a few hats and bandanas. It's slowly growing back. In April I went back in for a 3rd coiling no stent and I'm waiting to see what kind of hair loss I'll have from that. I hope Dawn is right and there won't be much loss.

*bunch Welcome to the site hun!! I had a ruptured 4.5mm aneurysm, stinted and coiled by my left optical artery & comm. arteries. I am glad this site was able to help you so much! It has been a "God send" to me for almost 3 years now!! :D
*fear Yes, I too lost a lot of hair!!! I was freaked out as I have thin, blonde, "baby" hair as it was!! I was ready to buy a wig!!! *grimace
BUT, then it finally started to gorw back. :D It has been a year since my last angiogram. My Dr. gave me a "cocktail" of med's to take the night before and morning of my angio's and surgeries. It is Prednisone (a steroid), perscription strength Benadryl in a pill form and script. strenght Zantac. It definately helped the hair loss the last couple of times!!! :)
:D Now my hair is down to the middle of my back again, and growing!!! :p
It took a while, but it just kind of took off one day it seems!! A heathy diet will help, lots of fruits and veggies.

*smallrose Ask your Dr. about it before your test if they are using dye??
I hope yours grows back fast, if your lucky and have thick hair, hopefully it will hide your loss. I hope to hear from you more, welcome to a great place to meet people who know how you feel!! Tricia

*cg20 God Bless Diane and be with her, touch her with your healing hands. Lord, I know we ask a lot from you here and I hope you keep answering so many prayers as you have. Hear our prayers for Diane. Amen

Hi,
Hope you are doing well! I am post-op almost 4 months and my hair has stopped thinning...finally!! I lost a bit of hair, but the doc said it could happen since I had a healthy dose of radiation combined with the other drugs. I hope everything works out well for you, hun.
Blessings to you,
Christy

Diane,

Welcome! Glad you're doing well. (I had no idea about the hair loss! I'm getting coiled on June 19th and it hasn't been mentioned!)
