i am still shaking, livid from this act of inhumanity.
show your outrage about the act of an "artist" in managua, honduras.
he paid street kids to capture a dog. then he brought it to an art gallery, where he leashed to a corner and let the poor dog to DIE of thirst and starvation !!!!!! he use dog food to write on the walls, so the poor dog was tormented with the smell.
see it on you tube the name of the "artist" is guillermo 'habacuc' vargas
and he has been asked to repeat his "art" at a bienal !!!!!
do not let this to happen again!!
please signed the petition

I'm all for art that expresses the suffering of animals, there's more than enough in Honduras and the whole world to go around without purposely creating more. I can't say what he created was art or not art, personally I usually only like my kids' art and rarely understand expensive high falootin art...but what that guy did to the dog before creating his 'art' was ******. He can rationalize all he wants. Sounds like the dog would have died even had he tried and helped it, to me, that might have been 'art' I'd want to experience. Something that showed the indifference the dog experienced, that represented the indifference the world seems to feel.

Except Gina who was crazy enough to stick her neck waaaaay out for Grace.

Here's something about it in english.

One part of the article said:
This does not necessarily mean that Vargas should have seen this dog on the street and felt morally obligated to take it as his own, and to feed and nurture it. But it also did not mean that he should contribute to its suffering in a selfishly artistic indulgence.

And I do NOT agree to the part I put in bold. I think he was, and we all are, responsible, accountable, to an unenforceable universal law that makes us HUMAN and not ape...minimize suffering and maximize happiness where and when ever possible. Yes, the guy is a horrible sadist to do what he did, but what about all those that see suffering and do NOTHING to make it better? I don't see a big difference between what he did and being cold and indifferent to suffering you could ease. I'm not 'good' or something, I can't help every kid or animal, however, I try and create the chance to do make lives better (especially for kids and animals cause they have so little voice) when the opportunity arises. It's like that Good Samaritan story in the Bible. Anyone that knows my dh, please don't tell him I'm talking about the Bible, he's a 'thumper'...he'll start draggin me to church.

So I'm not siding with that guy at all, far from it. But that story for me is a reality check, I want to make sure I notice the indifference I do or don't do, cause I sure don't want to be like that guy.

That having been said, I hope a rabid dog bites the guy, he chains himself to the same corner and dies of rabies...before he dies he can pay the same kids to paint some message on the wall with the foam that comes out of his mouth. Maybe the word KARMA or something.

mili, i envy you that you can go the spca and pick up another dog. i wish i could replace my poor dog, but we can't afford it financially and emotionally. and drive me nuts when you go and get another dog or others talk about the rescuing dogs and i can't.
but this case, it's absolutely insane cruelty. what were the artist thinking? what about the owners of the gallery, what about the organizers of the bienal who are inviting the 'artist' to repeat his 'art' ????
i read that several people talked to the artist into let the poor dog go or to feed him and the artist rejected any effort to save it. its name was 'nativity'. if i was there i would cut him lose or feed him...
sacrificing an innocent, defenseless animal for a man's vainglory put us all in shame of being consider 'humans'.
i wish by signing this petition guillermo 'habacuc' vargas is never allowed to present his art anywhere and the bienal should be closed in shame.

:( :( :( Awww, I'm sorry. I understand, I feel that way when I hear about folks with farms that can do sanctuaries, I have major 'Irwin' envy that I wasn't born into that family, ya know? You can share my joy over the new dog by allowing yourself to be bitten several times a day (lol).

>>>but this case, it's absolutely insane cruelty.

Beyond insane cruelty. I mean, what's up with all the people that saw this and did nothing???? That baffles me beyond what the sadist, oh, I mean artist did.

>>>what were the artist thinking? what about the owners of the gallery, what about the organizers of the bienal who are inviting the 'artist' to repeat his 'art' ????

Yeah I really don't get that bienial invitation thing at all.

I totally agree. Being human is more than understanding the perspectives of others, it's using that understanding for bettering, for lessening suffering, not using that 'emotional IQ' to inflict more suffering.

>>>i wish by signing this petition guillermo 'habacuc' vargas is never allowed to present his art anywhere and the bienal should be closed in shame.

Well, birds of a feather flock together as they say, so maybe he will get his come upins from his own 'friends'. I never really really believed this, but now I do...when you send out goodness into the world you get it back, and when you send badness out you get that. Not that good things always happen to good people, but trying to be good and do good, you attract that kind of energy in others. I hope the energy that guy attracts is what he deserves.
Glad some folks at least asked him to show mercy to the dog, but even more than the act of this one man I'm more disturbed by the lack of feeling by so many observers. I just don't get it. The poor thing probably died of thirst. What a way to go, makes no sense at all. Beyond cruel.
