i just joined this board. i heard about it from a friend. thought i would introduce myself.

im heather marie, SAHM to a 5yo little boy with autism. he also has SID, speech delays, PT needs (hypotonia of the trunk mainly), needs to wear AFO's (for hypotonia in the ankles as well as arch collapse), allergy induced asthma, allergies (seasonal, fire ant, and food), and a few other things.

right now i am just starting my journey of looking into the possibility of a metabolic issue, or mitochondrial issue. i am also looking into the possibility of him having some sort of auto-immune disorder. he is chronically sick and has been since he was born. mostly unexplained fever spikes, plus other issues. we had to do a set of ear tubes and may be on our way to the second set, as well as he has had his tonsils and adenoids removed. well, im sure ive bored you enough for now:o

welcome! heather marie, what are those initials SAHM?
at all events, it's excellent that you are up to date with the latest possible causes that manifest as "autism', you are very wise to investigate and to rule them out.

Hello Heather! Welcome to the board!

Isabelle.. I think that SAHM is "stay at home mom"

P.S. I am puzzled about the allergy to fire ants.. geeeze aren't we all alergic to those?

Welcome Heather! I tend to do more lurking than posting on the Autism forum. I post more over on the Child Neurology forum (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=115) I wanted to encourage you to read / post both places, if you're interested. Somehow, the hypotonia, AFO's, metabolic and/or mitochondrial issues strike me as things I've read more on Child Neuro, than here. Regardless, you're welcome to post in either place, or any other forums that you think are appropriate.
