where are yyooouuuuu? Okay guys, don't leave me hanging here. I thought things were rolling a little smoother here. :rolleyes: I don't have any special words today just wanted to see how everyone was doing. Matuboo it is good to see that you are posting.
I sat yesterday listening to someone who is an alcoholic, among other things, talk about how a couple of years ago he and a friend were helping a friend fix his roof and the guy he was working with was/is addicted to Vicodin. He had just purchased like 300 and they were both drinking, the guy had 2 pints of Super Schnapps. It was like 93 degrees outside and they were drinking and working and the guy had eaten he said about 13-15 of those Vicodin in the space of 4-5 hours. He said that at that point in time all they could do was sit on the curb and drink. Could not even talk. Lips were blue, they were cold despite the temperature. He was laughing and I kept thinking, do you know how lucky you are to be sitting here right now. You are laughing but do you know how many times over the years your family worried that when you walked out the door you were not coming back. In the winter time he walks everywhere and there is a small stretch of woods he goes through to get home. I am waiting for the day to come where in the middle of winter he trips over a log and knocks himself out and .........well.......... He got an inheritance of over $10,000 and everyone was so afraid he would get a car.
Think it may ring a bell with anybody out there? Think maybe someone out there just like him may be reading this and need/want/be afraid to get help? That is one of the things that makes it so hard to watch the addicts in my family. Most people who are addicts, they have family who look at them and say, he/she would make a great parent/spouse/employee/whatever if only they weren't addicts.
