Hi everyone... Here's an update on my family's journey with annies. Quick histroy... my 25 year old brother brother died in 1978 from a ruptured annie. My dad got diagnosed with one in Feb. this year... an 'incidental finding' while he was in the hospital with another problem. The Dr. recommended immediate family be screened. I did and got diagnosed with one on March 25. I spoke with my NS today and am booked for craniotomy and clipping on May 2.
I have one living brother now. A third brother died suddenly in 2004... not aneurysm related. I having been 'nagging' my brother to get screened. He had been dragging his heels about it. He has a wife and 3 kids... 14, 12 ans 11 years old. Well, he did go Thursday and have the MRI/MRA. He called me this morning after the 'on call' doctor called him... he has an aneurysm too. O God... I am crying right now writing this. I wish I could take this problem away from my dad and brother and let it just be me. I am strong and tough and have faith that I will be fine... it just breaks my heart that they have to go through this too.
So, before my surgery I am going to make sure that they are both hooked up with the NS and have a plan in action to take care of them. I am a nurse and by nature I am a caregiver and want to help everyone else. I know I have to take care of myself too... I am doing that. I know it is such a blessing that we found them before they ruptured and I know everything happens for a reason. So, we will hold each others hands through this and support each other and we will get through this. "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger'... my family will be stronger than ever after this.
As always... my thoughts and prayers are there with everyone on this site and your family and friends who are supporting you. Thank you all for being here and taking time to read this. I know we are not alone. Take good care/ bye for now... Linda*cg24
