Hi Ya'll!

I have family in the south and am therefore allowed to say ya'll a/k/a/ you all.

Lee, Happy Birthday!! I forget the date but Friday April 18, 2008 is NATIONAL LEE DAY!!

(Please pardon my spelling. I am very tired. I am using the dictionary, okay then?:) )

I started this post at 5:31AM and still have not been to bed. I am very tired and I hurt plus the house is a filthy wreck!!::(:(
I can't find my glasses either. Do you all remember the fun we had here? Not fun per say, we did (often) have very serious appropriate moments. Isn't that what the forum is for?? I'm certain they never would but I thought to myself, what if there was no more Addiction Forum, then what?

I pretty much stopped posting when the "new" forums "finally" came back on line plus I have major depression. We make so called on line friends and then never hear from them again. (I am guilty as charged!!) It gets real tough wondering if someone fell off the earth or what. I think we need the old romper room lady with her magic mirror who could always see everyone. I always hoped she saw me and would say my name:):)

There are so many of you I think about, actually quite a lot. I wonder about you (with my "magic mirror"!!:):) ) Please don't get mad if I forget your name.

There's Jill, sp000ge, Ryker, D.Ann, oops, accidently backspaced:(:(grr

Who was the girl that got money from people them pretended she died?

Night Heron and just so many more, right under our nose's. Right on the tip of our tongue's. Stacy too. Birdie, Sharie, Nan,

"Doctor Dave":):) You have to whisper it. Bette Midler did:)

Hi Amber, how are you doing? I saw where you had surgery. Amber (DESERVES A GOLD STAR!!!!). Amber also deserves everyone's congratulations for making it through surgery without any pain meds. I think it's important though that no one
suffer.

I wanted to be sure and say hello to houghchrst, "Christina". I've read a lot of you posts. I also have CP and I really hope this Doctor helps you. I am on the patch and it is starting to fail me. I am hopeful my Doctor is receptive to something else long acting. BTW, the numbing patches "Lidoderm" can help quite a bit too. Personally, I would not volunteer any information. Just my humble opinion. I didn't tell him anything. From previous experience. Of course, they can always pull your medical records. I was in horrific pain and quite desperate. There are those that will poo-poo any talk of this here, on this forum. My opinion, their opinion. Short actings are what got me hooked in the first place.

I was having horrific cluster headaches and was given butalbital. I was young and dumb and knew nothing. Also, at the time, I was living with a verbally abusive alcoholic who was a thief. I mean, were not here to talk about Avon!!

I by no means am trying to make excuses, rationalize, etc. I take full responsibility for what happened. <My God, this is beginning to sound like a movie!!>

Women who suffer from cluster headaches will tell you that child birth is less painful. I was shocked when I heard that!!

If we are to believe in genetics (and I believe I do) then that played a major role in my addiction. As I said, I accept FULL responsibility. My father was an alcoholic as was his brother. (They are both deceased though surprisingly not from alcohol) His parents were fervent anti-alcohol with my grandmothers father being an alcoholic and my grandfather having alcoholics in his family. Of course, neither of them knew about heredity and genetics. In their day and time they were called drunkards.

The relspse rate is upwards of 90%. I was just horrified to learn that. I have slipped several times. I am greatly ashamed of that. Shame is our worst enemy.

Long acting pain medication to me is like food to you. I simply need it to function. Long acting does not get me high. Can you imagine mowing the lawn or vacuuming the living room and having to stop 3, 4 or even 5 times because of unbearable pain, having to stop and rest for 15 to 30 minutes?

I am not rationalizing. I know what addicts do and say to get drugs. I have chronic injuries and I am in pain 70 to 80% of the time. I have to be honest with myself, keep a log and take medication only when needed. It is very, very scary and, very, very hard as I do have to take breakthrough meds!!

Sorry to be so long.............more later.

All of you start posting now you here?

Please be kind and gentle and love one another!!

Here!!!

I've heard the same thing about cluster headaches. I get regular migraines and they suck pretty bad, but not as bad as those. Do you know that people have murdered other people in the throes of one from the pain? Ugh
