Cin,
Thanks so much for keeping us updated on Rose. I've chatted with her a few times. I just got home from the hospital this afternoon. Rose and I had procedures on the same day. Mine seems like a "simple" coiling compared to hers. Everything on my end went well. (I had a ruputure in Jan. that ended up being coiled and stented and there was another right next to it that was coiled and stented.) Please let Rose's husband know that she is in our prayers and please keep us informed.

May the angels watch over all of us,
Lynn

Thursday update: I just talked to Rose's husband, he said she is doing well..she has some pain at the incision site, but, she is ok..
He said Rose is going in the morning for another angiogram, so the docs can check how everything is working.
Rose's husband says she will probably be in ICU til Saturday, then moved to a regular room.
She is alert and talking, and hasn't lost her sense of humour, her husband said.
I told her husband to let her know everyone on the site was wishing her well, and sending prayers and positive vibes her way.
I will let you all know more as soon as I do....take care

Saturday update: I just called Rose's husband, and he said Rose was doing well...and then he asked me if I wanted to talk to her..I was so excited to hear her voice. She sounded good, but, tired. She said they had her sitting up in a chair for a few hours today, but it was still kind of hard..She said they had to cancel the angio yesterday, due to her blood pressure being low and her heart didn't like, the meds they gave her. She is fine, and is going to have the angio on Monday instead.

She said they are planning to move her out of ICU to a step down room today. And they are going to keep her a couple of extra days to make sure her heart is doing good. They said Rose did really good through the surgery.
She wanted me to tell Everyone that she says hello, and she said to tell You All thank you for the prayers!!!

I told her I would call later to find out if she was in a regular step down room yet..I will let you all know. I told her everyone here sent their best wishes, prayers and positive vibes her way..she was really pleased.
She said she asked the doctor how many of these bi-pass surgeries they do there a year and the doc said only about 6, as where the bigger hospitals do about 12 a year..this bi-pass was their 3 one this year.

Well I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for checking in. Take good care

Hi All,

Just got back from seeing Rose. Wow.. She looked beautiful and amazing! Definitely still recovering, her tummy is bit upset still. They cancelled doing the angiogram and may send her home tomorrow although they did speak of today but...

She was very happy with her flowers and they look beautiful. Good Job! I told her that everyone was thinking of her and she does love this support group.

Thank the Lord!

Hi Donna, thanks for the update..I just got off the phone with Rose, she was tired but wanted to talk for a bit..She said to say thanks to everyone on here for sending prayers.
Donna, she thought your gifts were so very sweet and nice..and she really loved them..
She thinks physical therapy should be up there sometime today, to help her walk around a little..she is raring to go..she wants to start walking soon.
She has such a postive attitude..she said every 5 minutes that go by, is 5 more minutes healing time since the surgery..and she is on the road to recovery...
She also said she gave the people there, the web address to this site..that was sweet..I know more hospitals should know this site by name, so they can pass it on to their patients..
I'll talk to her tomorrow and let you all know how she is doing...
Thanks everyone..take care

Update Tuesday: I just talked to Rose, and she said the reason why she has some numbness and her balance is off is that she had a small stroke during surgery. She is going to go to a Rehab tomorrow for a few days, then she will go home. She's saddened by this, but, she is trying to see the bright side of things. Her doc told her before the surgery that this might happen.
Rose said she went to the bathroom today and fell off the toilet, she accidently sat on her iv line, she is a numb in some areas and didn't feel it..in her words " I fell on my 1/2 million dollar head". She said she is fine from the fall.. the nurses really got there quickly and helped her.
She was asking about everyone on the board, and how you all were doing. She misses being here, and will be back as soon as she can.

Miraceti, I told her what you wrote about us getting together in Missouri, she said to tell you, you can come too. The more the better!!!

Rose knows I'm keeping you all updated, and I try to tell her all that you all say too.
I will let you know more when I find anything out...
I hope she does well at the rehab, and is home really soon..I know she misses being there with her family..
Take care

Rose,

I am sorry to hear about your setbacks, BUT YOU can overcome them. I fully understand your feelings about having to go to rehab, I had the same when it was mentioned to me in the hosp - fortunately I did not have to go. However, having said that - I am a firm believer in physical therapy - it does work even though you sometime swear the caregiver is a physical terrorist - because they push you to new heights, but in the end IT DOES WORK. It may well be the most difficult thing you have ever done in your life, and take more strength than you think you have, but just keep telling yourself I CAN DO THIS, and try. Celebrate the small acheivements and don't let any setbacks get you down, just tell yourself - tomorrow I will do it. I did have PT when I came home but only three sessions and then she decided my strength has good - IMHO it was most likely because I'd been working out with a trainer before the surgery.

One word of caution, listen to the caregiver, they now what they are doing. Don't try anything they think you are not ready for yet. To Wit, while in the hosp after I was fully awake (found out in December they put me in a coma for 4-5 days), I decided I needed to use the bathroom. So there I was swinging my legs over the side of the bed, when the nurse asked me where was I going. I pointed to the open bathroom door and said "In there", she asked why, I looked at her and wanted to say something funny like "Oh just to bake a cake or watch TV" but I fought off the urge. Instead I told her the ususal reason, she offered a bedpan and I steadfastly refused. Must have been either/or a combination of my superior negotiation skills and stubborn german personality - I won. Out of bed I came with the 100lb nurse steadying me by my right arm. HA I thought - I showed her, I'm going to the bathroom; two steps later my left foot got in an argument with my right foot and I did an olympic class face plant right on the floor. I fully recall my forehead hitting the floor just after I saw the porcelain of my target destination pass by the left side of my head. I stayed conscious and thought OH, This might not be such a good thing. OH BTW her 100lbs was apparently no match form my 200 and she was on the floor with me. After that little episode I said to myself - "Self- these folks have seen perhaps several hundred patients go through this, however, this is the first time for me - I guess they do know better what I can do and what I cannot".

Our local support group has two survisors who suffered strokes as a result of thier ruptures. One gentleman is very recent and his stroke was very severe, but he can walk and is making great progress, the other is in much better condition, so much better he is driving. I am hoping you can recover as fully as these gents have. It is not fast - that is the most discouraging part of recovery, it never goes as fast as we want it to; but if you stick with it in Rehab I am sure you'll be amazed at what you are able to do when you leave, compared to when you arrived.

I'm pulling for you - If I were closer to you, I'd pop by and offer you a ride on the back of my Motorcycle to raise your spirits. Hang in there....

John

I'm so happy to hear Rose is doing so well. Walking with the boot on her foot for the broken toes. That's pretty darn good  I remember when I first got home and had PT at home. It consisted of a walk to the end of the yard and back, and I was all done in. Rose is doing marvelously :)

And I bet she'll be really happy to get home again, I know I was.

Rose will be in my prayers.
