Hi,

I'm interested to know if anyone out there has my problem. I have bone marrow failure (probable MDS), but also have cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine problems. About a week ago I lost feeling in my left hand, it was intermittant all day. That night I got a pretty bad headache with a black spot in the middle of my vision. I took some paracetamol and the headache eased, but then I had a very unexpected vomit. I was fine the next day, then the day after that on the drive to work the hand numbness returned and came and went all day. I went to see my GP expecting to be told that my neck was playing up but, he said he thought I was having mini strokes or TIAs. He rang my specialist who asked my GP to order some tests. The results showed that I have a low APTT and a high homocysteine (I am homozygous for MTHFR and the high homocysteine is not unexpected). All other tests were normal. I have been started on Cartia to thin my blood, just in case !!

I still think it is my neck causing the problem but would like to know if anyone else has had the same thing.

Thanks

Chirley

Well thanks anyway, but from the lack of replies, I have to assume no one else has the same problem.

I still think the numb hand was caused by my neck problems (2007 mri shows paracentral disc herniation with slightly compromised canal ) at C6-C7. But without some confirmation from another medical professional, I may always be labelled as having cerebral TIAs. I really don't need any more to add to my list of medical problems. It is a steadily growing list and I'm only 51 years old.

Bye
Chirley

I think I must be odd. But it's awful to have it confirmed. Looks like I'm different yet again. Please answer if you have anything similar.
