Has anyone heard of and/or tried this therapy for chronic pain? My wife and I watched a documentary over the weekend that was pretty compelling. From the literature (websites) they do suggest that this therapy could make a significant impact on chronic pain...I do use opiates to control my pain levels, but in all honesty, I'm still struggling with the constant 3 - 4 pain level that my PM Doc says I will never really be able to overcome. It's just driving me crazy. It's better than a 8 - 9 for sure, but if I can treat it via alternative means (metabolic) then I'd like to give it a try.
If anyone has any info on this I'd be interested in hearing it!

"In 1946, Dr. Gerson told Congress that about 30% (3 out of 10) of the cancer patients treated with his therapy had a good response. In 1947, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) reviewed the cases of 10 patients treated by Dr. Gerson. The patients were also receiving other anticancer treatments, however, and it was not proven that changes in the patients’ conditions were due to the Gerson therapy or another treatment. The NCI has not made any other reviews of Dr. Gerson’s therapy. " at http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/gerson/patient/Page2#Section_14
I guess what bothers me is one of the first things I saw on the site above was "cures cancer" and this was in 1946, 60 years ago... We still do not have a cure.. If this therapy worked, over the past years it would have spread like wildfire... Then I Saw where part of the therapy is coffee enemas!!! I sure like my coffee going down the other opening! LOL
Then I saw this on another site... "With the Gerson Therapy, patients have seen heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, lupus, colitis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, herniated disks and many other problems disappear."
I guess it might just be the cure all to end all...
I guess it is all that you want to believe in or hope works.. After 2 hours searching I did not find any people that could be gotten in touch with that said they were cured.. Sure I found testamonials.. But those are often author produced to begin the stir..
If anyone uses this and it cures a herniated disk please let me know ASAP as I have three currently that are operable..

I heard that they learned about coffee enemas in WWII when they were going to get rid of the excess leftover stale coffee they somehow decided to use it in the enema bags on the soldiers and they reported pain relief benefits from this. I dont' know if it's just from the caffiene or what, but I have heard of Max Gerson before and just wanted to pipe in about the part I knew the story behind.
Supposedly the reasonn that his therapy wasn't looked at seriously was because it relied heavily on nutrition. That's if I remember correctly, which I might not, this was about twenty years ago I remember reading about Gerson therapy and the institute in Mexico.
