I googled "cmpatsi" and I ended up only getting references back to here :p . They state only that the c stands for consumable....so before I pull out my hair, can anyone tell me anything more about this parenting acronym?

What do all the letters stand for, or who promotes the technique? I will do the rest of the research if I have a starting point. Thanks.

what is teh technique about? or do you know? :)

I'm guessing maybe the m could be 'materials'? total guess, based on the first word being 'consumable'. probably way off-target.

It isn't a parenting acronym, it is behavior modification. I just posted it on the other thread. I looked too, hard to beleive there isn't anything on it on the web. I had a really great textbook on it, but I don't recall the name.. struggling to find it.
I am having a hard time remembering things today. P is giving me problems. I recall it being possessional but I keep thinking I am wrong.
c consumable ... edible item
m manipulative... item you play with manipulate
p possessional (aggh... something you obtain ownership of?)
a activity ... something you do, play a game, watch tv, go on the puter
t token .... a coin or tickets (chart of stars) you collect and exchange at a future date for a valued item.
s social .... when you do what you need to for praise
i intrinsic... when you do what you need for your own benefit

Of course, praise should accompany each reward, but that comes natural for moms.
You are probably thinking thats useles, but it really isn't!
You are basically looking at a behavior and thinking what is the reward that may change the behavior, starting with consumable. The reward there is more immediate, like if you use the potty I will give you xyz. As you move up the schedule of rewards, because the child is using the potty you might go to A= activity. If you use the potty every day there will be no diaper

I already do the praise boats load (didn't get it as a kid so I am a pendulum mom--I praise lots). If you find the name of the book pllleeaaasssseee let me knows.

And we get to be the parents that tell our child's perspective mate that we potty trained her with Jelly Beans and poop trained her with marshmellows (champainge poppers, pom poms, lots of praise, and natural consequences for accidents), but the only juicy part parents can "tease" adult children about is the food parts.

Thanks bunches!!! I want to try the rest of the strategy for just daily issues, and I think it fits with my natural style from what I have read about on here....so I am very interested.
