Ned, there are better slices to read the impact of your herniations on your spinal cord but based on these MRIs you have some clear indications of what causes your pain. I hope you are able to get a surgeon to look at your films soon. Good luck with the treatment you choose and I hope you have a great surgeon to look at your spine and do your surgery if that is how it turns out.

I'm with Mark, I would be interested in seeing the new ones, just to see what has changed.

Good Luck !!

Ned,
First off, did you get the PM I sent you a couple of days ago?
About the films, I'm no expert but it doesn't take one to see the damage. I too would like to see the updated films. Do you have them?

Ned,

I agree with Linda...OUCH!

Your first pic reminds me of my husband's MRI. Only his is not only herniated but has oozed out (fragmented). It is kind of hard to describe but his looks awful to me. Anyway, yes, it is pretty evident why you would hurt so bad. :(

But as Mark said too, there are other slices that would show more closely what is going on. Can you scan in the other views?

Everyone says they see damage, but no one is calling what they see.

Based on the parasaggital images, it is hard to make much out of it. The root at L4 is exiting above the herniation, but without axial slices at that level it is impossible to say what is going on. Also, based on the pedicle showing on L2 and not at L4 or L5, you were a little twisted in the magnet or you have some scoliosis.

What's the radiology report say? Something like L4-5 HNP to the left (or right -cannot tell without axials) not impinging on the L4 root (may be compressing the L5 root in the canal laterally).

But need more info. Please post more images or the radiology report.

Steve,
What do you mean when you say "twisted in the magnet"?

Pete

I he was not lying perfectly flat, the spine could be rotated giving the impression of mild scoliosis.

I just looked and all I seen was like steve said twisted. You would need more pic to see what is going on. I looked at mine today and couldn't make head or tails out of it. to dark for one. GL
