yes, bill is right the perpetuation of autism as a tragedy and the autistic as dangerous ...so he and wally are trying to do away with those mis perceptions.
many of those calling themselves "autism advocates" and doctors describing themselves as "experts" take advantage of that fear and help to perpetuate the idea of autism=danger.
they are called to help government/ministries to form policies of "standard of care" for the developmental delayed declared them as "vulnerable", and the way "to protect" them is to declared them as "a danger to themselves and to others" in order to take away their human rights and forcing treatment.
doctors are willing to play the field under the big pharmas incentives.

I hope that Bill's work will change the way people perceive autism and help them see our children as the unique people that they are and that the powers that be will be much kinder.

I want to say a BIG BIG thankyou for posting this. Tonight I was able to have a very good very rare conversation with my son on his experience with the world. He was able to tell me finally about some extra sensitivities. I should him this clip and he really related and said it made him feel special. Still have tears in my eyes.

A few weeks ago at church my son mentioned a spiritual type experience so this was perfect timing. thank you again.

about bill describing the numb feeling on the arm as becoming unresponsive cement and what if that feeling is around your throat and still people makes demands on you...it's exactly what happened to my son while on tegretol, as it was increase something was bothering on his throat and at one point he managed to touch his throat and say "it hurts", then later when that strange feeling got worse he would hit his throat unable to verbalize by then.

sad and tragic to give these drugs to someone like him who could barely speak, when taken out of tegretol his few verbalizations came as screams for days. caring staff suspected the drug, but we were skeptical, after all, we thought, this is a med for epilepsy. searching much later we read that tegretol has as adverse effects to take speech away or to blurry it.
