just beautiful !!!! he did it, he said it !!! we need more compassion, sense of humour, in our interaction with "autistics"....give huge hugs to wally from me, tell him i love him...i am given a hug to my poor boy, right now. he had so much potential and everything was stolen from him and in our stupid ignorance we allowed to happen. we trusted doctors and they let us all down. they took advantage of our ignorance to mistreat our innocent boy.

To wally’s mom
What a heart warming video clip of your son. May I ask how old he is? I also have an adult autistic son who is 44 years old now. He does not have the physical disability of your son but his retardation level is severe as a result of his autism. I am learning through the years that not every autistics are ever the same.. But you know that is the same for nt’s too. Everyone of us being autisitic or not have different personalities and talents.
Thank You for posting this video and also tell thank you to your son for being the bright star in it.

some day, wally, 'the autistics' will prevail and show them up.
i am talking about all those self-described "experts" on "autism" who say ''the autistic can't speak have no rights", they have no feelings, they are like animals and they would stop prescribing those "meds" that drive them to craziness or to diabetes.

My husband and I just had to watch twice, we so enjoyed the armies of autistics on hoppity balls with their soda pop in hand ready to do battle. What a lovely image. You can count on Vincent and I (both on the autistic spectrum) being there in your army. Can't imagine anyplace I'd feel more 'right' and a sense of belonging. What a visual. Wally is a cool writer for sure. Hmmm, if there was police trouble, hey, we'd be safe cause they can't taze a hippity hop ball - might bounce off of it and taze themselves. I'm gonna wear a Forrest Gump hat, MLK Jr. shirt (to emphasize no more Jim Crow for autistics!) and the now deceased Steve Irwin on my hoppity ball.

Lovely...as are all of you. It's so nice to put faces with the names and I was so impressed at how eloquently you discussed Wally's life. His writing is beautiful and now I can picture him lying in his bed, thinking all those great thoughts.
On another note, I'm so very impressed at the healthy appearance of Wally, and it's obvious he wasn't just "shined up" for the camera. His skin just glows, his hair is sleek and shiny and he just looks to be as healthy as anyone in his situation could be. It takes much love and devotion to achieve that level of health in someone who has his challenges. Again I stand in awe of your parenting skills.
Thank you for sharing!

Gay, that was beautiful. Do you know when the film will be out? Can I pass this on to others with autism?
I will be going to a seminar in May and hearing Temple Grandin speak. Whats neat is its on my birthday weekend. :)
I love Wally's eyes. They speak so much. His smile also.
Thanks, I will see about that book also.

Gina Marie--Yes, you can pass the video on. I haven't heard when the film will be out, but will post when I know. The filmmaker is a talented fellow. Wally has been to a couple conferences where Temple Grandin presented. She is an amazing woman--what I love about her is that she is out there trying to help us parents and our children. Such a responsible, caring person. Have a nice Birthday.
I have read the posts to Wally, makes him happy to hear what you have to say.
