That is the tentative diagnosis for my eleven year old son. We'll see what the bloodwork shows but ped. feels that is the reason for the occasional (few days a month) extreme morning pain that keeps him home. Isaiah disagrees and says it is probably just related to his migraines. We will see. I haven't thought it through yet but started him on the meds today just in case and since it is the same one for migraines, either way it should help. Not anxious to continue on the meds but doing it til the results come shouldn't hurt and should help so... life is never dull.

Did I mention that gluten sensitivity is also associated with rheumatoid arthritis? http://jccglutenfree.googlepages.com/otherautoimmunedisease It's alphabetical, so scroll down towards the bottom. There's even a link about an 11 year old boy...
Hope the new meds help.

If he was my young son I'd sure have him tested for Lyme disease. Please check out the Lyme forum here on BT.
Good luck

I don't think we have lyme disease where we live (city in Canada). There was lyme disease two years ago in Europe but I never saw a tick bite and we were watching...
will see.

I'm sorry to hear this. It does bring an interesting question up though, RA is autoimmune related. Have any of the boys ever seen a Rheumatologist? If there is an autoimmune disorder involved it may have a genetic component and present differently with each person. Just a thought.
When do you get the blood work back? What does Issaih think doesn't fit?
I've been thinking of you all and hoping all is well.

Mary, this is the first time I think the ped dx'd something of significance for my kids and didn't refer me out. Guess he is waiting on the bloodwork (next week he said). no rheumy yet. Last month I took Noah and mentioned he sometimes has trouble with knees/feet and his one foot started turning in=hmmm... At the time I was thinking more mild effects of what seemed like cp when a baby but no..told to watch it. that was before this info came his way. Also, all Matt's joint pains and spasms...???? we'll go down the road as it presents itself. I keep thinking there is a connection...
Isaiah just knows these symptoms often come with his migraines and that the neuro did say they could be related...so Isaiah just thinks this is connected to migraine problem and not a separate issue.
Think of you too. hope you are also well.
