Here is some interesting information on this subject.

If it turns out that vaccines are a trigger for mitochondrial damage as may
be the case for some autistic children we may see a change in the vaccination protocols. I myself don't understand why newborns have to be given HepB for example. Especially in non high risk populations. Given later in life or spaced differently they may not trigger
Mitochondrial damage does occur with some therapies for HIV and during chemo.
Peripheral neuropathies exist for many patients receiving these therapies.
If this line of research becomes fruitful, we may see genetic screening for
mito disorders at birth. Perhaps prevention will become the tool to stopping
Autism.

many cases of "autism" could be mito. we discussed it a few years ago.
it might be a weakness passed by generations caused by ..... vaccines? or by bad diet???
i understand mito is female and in this case Hannah's case or some others were inherited from the fathers DNA.
at all event, hopefully, now they are going to do an in-depth research into this....and who knows, finds the cure for allergies and ezcema too....my dd has it since she was 12 days old and in this moment my hands are itching like crazy....ahhh, scratch, scratch....

On the HepB vaccine given to newborns, the policy came about when it became increasingly obvious, that you cannot accurately predict what mother has the virus due to her own birth history. Almost everyone born in southeast Asia has the HepB virus. It is passed on to the newborn during the birthing process. By giving the vaccine at birth, the baby is also protected from the ravages of the other diseases, that only occur when the patient already has had HepB. HepC destroys the liver. No one gets HepC unless they had HepB. Also, I do think that I've read somewhere that primary cancer of the liver only occurs in those who have had HepB.
It is basically the same philosophy that mandated that the medical profession would, from now on, just assume that EVERYONE is HIV positive. All procedures and protocols were changed, so that caregivers always wear gloves whenever there is a possibility of body fluids being touched.
I am becoming increasingly aware of the vast damage that has been done to the general nutritional status of our population by the use of government subsidies and the loss of diversification of seed. I remember touring a rural, prairie school where one of the requirements to graduate from eighth grade, was to identify the types of wheat seeds in about a dozen different glass vials! Commercial bakeries use high gluten grains of flour because they make the fluffiest bread. What were the nutritional components of the other grains that are no longer being used? How much damage has been done to the human genetic field because of it? So many questions, so few answers. Cheerio.

My baby was not born in Southeast Asia and they had 9 months of prenatal care to test me for the virus. My baby absolutely was not at risk...If I wasn't so ignorant back then, she never would have recieved that vaccine.

Does anyone have anymore research about the connection? Any studies being conducted?
I'm curious as to what the therapy might be.

I do think mito problems have something to do with Matt's autism! However, Matt didn't get the HepB, I declined it since he was having so many other problems at the time. There was no argument then, but when my DD was born 5 years later and I declined it again, they sent in two Dr's and a social worker try to talk me into it!!! My parenting skills, mental state and fitness to even HAVE children were called into question, thank God my DH was there to back me up. In Memphis at the time there was a big push to have all middle-schoolers vaccinated w/ HepB too - until the black community decided the push was unfairly skewed toward black kids and maybe there was some ulterior motive (conspiriacy theory anyone?). So they were out to prove "look we vaccinate all the helpless little white babies too".
