The discussions here and other places that I have heard and read about the extreme difficulty in getting off of Cymbalta caused me to want to do just that....and the sooner the better.

Seriously, I had been on it almost three years and when I went on it was with several other new meds so I really didn't now what it was doing for me.

Well guess what......nothing! Honestly, I have been off for 4+ weeks and can't tell one bit of difference in any way. It was not helping my pain at all, which is why it was prescribed, to assist with neuropathic pain in my legs.

I continue to be amazed at how much of this stuff I have continued putting in my body for this long for nothing. This one was $60 a month. I have been working off of one after another for over a year now. I started with all the opiods and now the Cymbalta. I can honestly say that my pain is no worse that it ever was but I am one of the ones that my pain has never been under control.

I am also happy to report that I did not have any problems working off the Cymbalta, so it is not torture for everyone. Good news for some of you I am sure!

I am not endorsing YOU coming off your medications, I just wanted to share what I am going through right now. I think my case is a bit unusual in that the medications have not helped. I do still swear by my topical Lidoderm patches however!!;)

Thanks for letting me share. AK

AK, thanks for letting know of your experience. Cymbalta does help with my neuropathic pain but I have gone off it with no trouble in the past. I have learned that my pain skyrockets and nothing else touches it so I need to quit messing around with needing Cymbalta or not needing it.

I am glad you have been active in removing one medicine at a time to determine the impact it has on your pain. Taking Cymbalta when it isn't doing a thing for you isn't good and I am glad you were able to get off it with no trouble. Once again thanks for the report on your experience as everyone doesn't [many do but not all of us] have trouble getting off Cymbalta.

I really appreciate you letting us know. I am weaning off cymbalta as Dr. and I discussed it. So far no bad side effects but know others have had a horrible time. At first I lost weight but now my weight is continuing to going up.
It just doesn't seem to be helping the pain anymore either. So time will tell.
So glad to hear no problems for you!

Neckbaby, there are a few of us that have no problem going of Cymbalta. In fact, I think it is unusual for someone to have severe issues but I know a couple here on this forum that have had real trouble.

It sounds as if you will transition off Cymbalta without trouble and it is good for others to know that some of us don't have any trouble doing that. I hope your transition continues to go well.

that 47% had withdrawal symptoms upon discontinuance of Cymbalta.
(I put that up on the other thread a while ago...the paper reference)

Those who find it doesn't even work well, may already have normal or adequate neurotransmitter status, and don't need it. If no changes therefore occurred in the brain, then it stands to reason that withdrawal would not be a major
issue either. Dose and time used, are also factors.
