For anyone who might know.

But does Zantac and Valium interfere with each other? I am supposed to take 10-15 mg of Valium before an injection on Tuesday and read that Valium can increase or decrease the effectiveness of Zantac. Anyway, any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Kathi,

I did some checking and the only gerd med that comes up are those with cimididine. I think a call to your doc would be best. If it was me I would say go for it, but that is just me. I take regular benzo's.:D

I hope your shots go well,:)

Hi Kathi....

I take Valium, usually 5-10 mgs/day and was also on Zantac for about 3 weeks last month. My Dr. is very careful about med interactions and my Pharmacist is like an alarm! If he sees ANY possible problem, he will call me and tell me what may happen.

Because this is one time deal and the size of dose of each is not large, the interaction should not be noticable at all.

I called my Pharmy awhile back because I was on Methadone and was not suppose to eat grapefruit. Well, I didn't but one day I just couldn't help myself and gobbled down some grapefruit. He said, you only take 12.5 mgs Methadone and grapefruit may increase it a tiny bit, but it is no big deal. Eat all the grapefruit you want. It will be fine.....I promise. That made me soooo happy.

If you are really worried, call your pharmacist. Good Luck with your shots. I'm going to be getting a bunch of shots in the next week or two in both lumbar and cervical......ESI's, medial blocks and trigger point.

Thanks you guys! :)

I am going to stop the Zantac though. Please, please don't think I am nuts; but I have had bad muscle pain EVERYWHERE ever since I started it a few days ago. I even went on Ask a Patient to see if anyone else had this while taking Zantac and it is a SE. I EXPECT my arms to ache...that is nothing new and due to my neck. But to have this everywhere makes no sense. And it did occur to me that when I last took Zantac was back in 2005 and I did have some muscle pain then too. So, I think I will just go with the OTHER recommedation the Gastro had; doubling up on the Nexium and getting a script for 40mg. And then just NOT eating at night except for maybe an apple. :) Why it is that some meds cause muscle pain I have no clue; Lyrica did the same thing.

Kathi,

I have had so many paradoxical responses to meds I have given up counting. I do very well with Nexium, I hope it works for you. I also have been praying for you that your shot give you great relief. I have to eat before my hs meds as I take Trazadone, and it will cause major GI upset, so I eat yogurt. I know you don't like it. But it does help me not erode my esophagus more.

Take care,
Kathy

Thanks Kathy,

I have given up counting as well. :)

Nexium has always worked fine; probably just need to take 40mg instead of the 20mg. And the GI stuff is soooo much better. I think it has a lot to do with this probiotic I am taking. And I need to get some more of it. It has worked great. And now I am wondering about this shot LOL. The tailbone pain has decreased a great deal...every now and then a twinge. But I think because the constipation has greatly lessened that the pressure is off so to speak. :) This morning it is the facets (left side lumbar) hurting this morning. My PM gave me injections not too long ago; then mentioned a second set and then an RF again. I think it is time!:) I will just keep the appointment and let him know what is going on. Geesh, it ALL just acts up from time to time. And I am not even going there on my right shoulder..that comes and goes too. Suffice to say there is tightness on the right side of my neck so I am pretty sure that something to do with it. I have been stretching though and it is helping a wee bit.

Kathi,

My GI always told me I needed 40mg of Nexium, and if they gave me samples of Previcid 30mg to take 2 because I had to have at least 40mg. Go figure, but it has worked wonders. As far as the tailbone I am having the opposite problem due to constipation, I have been forgetting to take the Surfak, so I just drank miralax in my coffee, I am so glad it isn't gritty and jelly like.
I was to have Facet injections this past week bilaterally, But there was a major problem in scheduling. They are really giving me the fits today. I fell asleep in my chair last night and then woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I really over slept, didn't get up until 10:30, it is dreary today so just as well.

Hope you have a good day,
Kathy

Kathy,

My Gastro orginally started me with 40mg. I can't remember the reason why now but I took it down to 20mg and was just fine until lately...when the bug hit. I also have some Prevacid from a long time ago sitting in the cabinet. I will call them and tell them I need a script for 40mg. It is just that I recently had the 20mg refilled so I have plenty for now. Is your tailbone hurting too? I don't recall you mentioning it. But it can hurt pretty darn bad. I am just glad the constipation I had is under control now. Shoot, maybe that is why I took the Nexium down to 20mg...constipation problems. Anyway, I hope the Miralax kicks in for you. :) And Facets? Geez, the left side hurts. But that is and always has been the worst area. I think the right side needs shots sometimes but it never really pains me too much as much as the left. When are you rescheduled to have them done? Heck, I am planning on going in and telling the doc it hurts....here, here and here! LOL Oh, and the weather isn't helping as far as the changes go. Yesterday was nice, I was fine. I think rain is coming in again (haven't checked but heard it) so maybe that is why my facets are bugging me today.

Kathi,

I hadn't thought about the weather, yesterday it was 66, today it will be 48. The barometric pressure plays havoc with my pain. I love the spring thunderstorms, but they come in and leave so fast that my pain goes on a roller coaster ride.
I am hoping the shots will be next week, I told my PM I was going to take a magic marker and draw all the places I hurt so he can see it close up and personal just where I hurt day to day. He laughed and thought it was a good idea, maybe he will start passing out markers. Sorry, back to what you said about saying I hurt here and here etc. I wish they would give me all the shots at the same time. I understand why they don't and appreciate that, but I sometimes feel like a pin cushion.
After I have the Facet injections, I will begin the ESI's on the neck. I sure hope they work, I am going to be as conservative as possible without causing more damage. I do not want more surgery.
We are in for a cold Easter, the hunt will be very quick. I think this year I am going to make big eggs for the little guys and little eggs for the big guys, that way the little ones have a chance. Last year the big guys got almost all of the eggs.
Okay that's it I am all over the place.

Take care,
Kathy

Kathy,

You crack me up! :) I am always all over the place too so don't feel bad. I think it is because I have 10,000 thoughts running through my mind. Then when I type; I scramble it all up sometimes when I get to typing too fast.

You made me laugh about the magic markers. Do this instead. Have a full body bone scan done if you haven't already. You will REALLY see everything lit up! Well, I mean...you MIGHT see a bunch of black dots...I did!!! My PM ordered that done for the plain and simple reason he just didn't want to keep poking me with needles; just wanted to see where the worst of "Arthur" was. I was in high fashion that day...just polka dots everywhere! :)

And are you SURE it is ESI's in the neck? I ONLY ask because I know my own PM won't do ESI's in the neck. (Oops, but where is Dr. Steve, he might want to rip on me for that one LOL!). I was just thinking those for the neck might be a different type. Just checking. :)

The Easter Egg hunt sounds fun! I remember those days but I have no grandkids yet. You are right though...the bigger kids ALWAYS find them first. We used to have the littler ones go first and then the big kids. Anyway, and don't laugh. I have NO little ones around but I did color some eggs the other day. At least my dogs enjoyed watching me do it. :) You are right though...I think we are supposed to have snow showers. And my niece just called and wants everyone to meet somewhere to eat. I told her...if my legs don't fall off first, I will be there. I like the spring storms too but it IS a roller coaster ride.

Kathi,

I am pretty sure he said ESI, but I could have assumed (there I go again) he meant ESI since I have had so many. I guess I will find out when I see him when we do the facet injections. The periformis has jumped on board today,
did I read somewhere that you had periformis releases? If so I would be interested in any info you have. These d****d things drive me crazy. I do the stretches every day, but if my gait is at all off, they just flame up.

Take care, I am a confused blonde today,
Kathy

Kathy,

Yes, Piriformis it was. The gal I see for Pelvic Floor PT did, I think, two sessions. She used ultrasound deep heat and kind of smooshed it like a trigger point release. :) After that...it was gone and hasn't come back...not yet anyway.:) I would say go EASY on the stretches and just try moist heat. Oh, she did say to get a tennis ball and kind of sit on it and roll around. But be careful...I really smashed my butt cheek when I did that the first time LOL!

Kathi,

Thanks, I am going to ask the PM about it. It is an ongoing problem as my gait is rarely normal. I have been using ice because heat tends to make it worse. I will try the heat again, the tennis ball is out tonight. It went on strike as soon as I told him I was gonna sit on him. Go figure!

Thanks,
Kathy
