Have many in here been the victims of abuse that has caused either long term or permanent injuries? I know people who have. I know others that are fortunate that they have no long term problems. It has concerned me for sometime and it is a subject I freely express my opinion about since I know too many who have been hurt

Krissi, I'm so sorry you have brain injury from abuse. That is awful what was done to you. :(
I have some permanent injuries. I have trouble hearing with my right middle ear due to head injuries. I can hear loud noises but not low noises. I know this problem started after repeated head injuries from my abusive ex. I had a hearing test etc.
I've gone through four surgeries on my left arm (two wrist, two elbow). Only a week after my first arm surgery my ex stomped on my arm. I could feel the blood inside the bandage. Repeated stomping, injuring made the surgery scar ugly. Eventually I had elbow surgery and they found lot's of scar tissue. The only arm injuries I had were caused by him.
My little and ring fingers on one hand won't bend properly. My ex injured them at least 10 times. I know one time I did have a small fracture when I did get treatment. The rest of the times I don't know. Hopefully will get this dealt with.
My ribs are in pain if I move or lay on them the wrong way. He stomped on my chest a few times. This could be ongoing, hopefully not permanent.
Many of these injuries I never had treated at the time because he either wouldn't allow me to seek medical help or I was too afraid to seek help because I feared judgement.

I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, my pain doc had told me I am a typical example of a domestic violence survivor...with that and PTSD, anxiety and depression also. I also have back and spine problems from an on the job injury, but I would imagine getting slammed against walls and thrown around alot did not help that much, either.

Too many people causing these kinds of injuries, Too many people getting these types of injuries and far too little is done to the batterers. Sad that some are never held accountable. The other problems are that the restraining orders are often not worth the paper they are printed on because the inforcement is good but sometimes not good enough to prevent further injuries.
Fear, shame and frustration often play a part in non reporting. the other thing is the fear of being found out, found, tracked down and dragged back into the same cycle all over agian. I hope I live to see the day the cycle of violence and injury will be brought under control by the legal system or any other manner needed to allow people to feel safe in their own homes and families/
I have friend who either have gone through some of the same types of injuries mentioned here and sadly they have either never reported them or waited too long for anything to be done to deal with their abusers.
I hope the voices will get louder and the punishment more certain and that the justice system will do its job.
