One of my daughter's doctors is suggesting she do another chronic pain rehabilitation program. She did one in 2001 right after high school graduation. It was seventeen days long. It no longer exists however.

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a pain rehabilitation program somewhere that is in-patient (you would actually stay at the facility during the time you participate).

Our health insurance back then covered 100% of the cost

Thank you.

Cheryl

Cheryl, I don't have any experience with this but I hope someone comes along to give you a place to turn to. I don't know what your daughter's situation is that her doctor is recommending this but I hope the end result is reduced pain for her.

Cheryl,

I only know of two right off the top of my head; one in Chicago and one at John Hopkins. I am certain there are more around; just don't know where you live or actually where any more are at. But I THINK these two are months long. I hope you can find one near you because I don't think it is a bad idea. :)

Cheryl,

I don't know where you live, but, the Spaulding Rehab in Boston is one of the top facilities in the country. I've seen and heard really good stories about their successes.

Hope you find what you're looking for. I've always believed that if we could get the medical community to look at the entire picture of what affects our health that we'd get better results.

Good luck.

Thank you, kindly. We live in Minnesota, but I would certainly consider options for her out of state.

Didn't someone post some bad stuff here about RIC in Chicago? Chicago would be do-able because we have been there over 50 times, I am sure, for medical care. My daughter had two surgeries there (one brain surgery). But I don't believe her hospital has a chronic pain program. Maybe I need to look back in the archives about RIC.

I'll keep watching here for ideas.

This is a great forum. I don't post much, but I read. My daughter is constant severe pain from complicated neuro syndromes. She is 25.

Thanks.

Cheryl

I have heard of an extended in patient treatment program in the Houston, TX area. I don't know if it is acceptable to provide a website here but the program is called the Pain Management Program at the Houston Rehabilitation Institute.
