I have both ptsd & fibromyalgia that effects my life physically and emotionly. I was a very active person,I loved to have people around me, worked most all my life until 2 yrs. ago, great memory & crafting etc.
Now I stay home practically all the time, have panic attacks & I feel lost in my own small area. The pain is so frustrating, but most of all my chronic fatigue & foggy thinking controls me {it seems }.
I have alot of empathy & compassion for others my heart likes to touch people lives but ptsd with fibromyalgia keeps me from doing what I desire. It makes me depressed. i am trying to find my way in life but it is like a brick wall pops up.Does anyone understand?

Hi Teresa. Welcome to BrainTalk. There are a bunch of folks that post regulary on Forum for Emotional Support and we'd love to have you join us there as well. Most of us have some kind of health problem or problems that keep us from getting out and around and being with folks as much as we'd like. We just meet there often and check in every now and then, usually daily really. It also sounds like you would be great at helping others and I hope you stay and do just that. I remember how awful I felt way back before joing in here online.

Hello,
I cannot say loudly enough, have your vitamin D level checked ASAP. I had your same symptoms - all from vitamin D deficiency!! (Anti-depressants make vitamin d deficiency worse!)

Hi Theresa...yes, I have both PTSD and Fibro, I've been taking Vitiman D for years now....so its not that.

I have some other health related issues too.....if its not one thing, its another. I've also been battling to get social security for 7 years now....that has been a nightmare.

Anyway, welcome.

[B]Hi Theresa...yes, I have both PTSD and Fibro, I've been taking Vitiman D for years now....so its not that. But have you been taking the NATURAL form of Vitamin D your body can actually use or have you been taking the prescribed form ERGOCALCIFEROL D2 that some people cannot convert to a usable form.?

Do you know what your last 25(OH)D level was?

If the D3 figure was less than 40ng/ml or 100nmol/l it is highly likely that you would feel better and experience less pain if you raised your D3 status. The figures in this paper show the NATURAL LEVEL your body would stabilise around given ample sunshine or EFFECTIVE STRENGTH D3. (http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=17218096)

You may try regular short full body sun exposure when your shadow is shorter than your height. There is a useful calculator here that will tell you how long to lay in the sun. (http://www.thevitamindcure.com/calculator)

Do you know what strength your vit d tablets are?
Anything less than 2000iu/daily will not get you over the 40ng/ml 100nmol/l threshold.
You really do need to buy effective strength D3 Colecalciferol (also spelt cholecalciferol) supplements. I use these 5000iu (https://secure.bio-tech-pharm.com/catalog.aspx?cat_id=2) but the usual USA discount supplement providers do 360 Carlson's oilbased 2000iu capsules for $11.28ish so they are far cheaper than those prescribed. (Prescription Vit d is a Big Pharma scam that health professionals should not be party to. (http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/2007/11/vitamin-d2-rip-offs.html)

Theresa,

Please join us in emotional support. A few of us have Fibro and I also have PTSD. We check in with each other daily for the most part. We are a tremendous support for each other, and many have suggestions and experiences that help.

Take care,
Kathy
