Hi etoolky1,

Can't help you much on that one. I was lucky and able to have my small avm removed by surgery. Although I did consider the gamma knife treatment and don't recall them
talking about hair loss. Not familiar with the the staged gamma although thinking it might be the same thing just delivered a little different. The gamma would be through a helmet that many holes and then the ray would be crisscrossing to intersect on the avm.
I believe it was just the one time to do it.

Sorry if not much help here. Where is your avm located? How did they find it?
blessings to you, donna

I wish I had found this forum when I first had my AVM. In the meantime, some fellow survivors developed another forum site located at http://www.avmsurvivors.org. You might find some additional information there.

Sincerely,

they found it on christmas day(2007), when I had a headache that wouldn't go away(it erupted ). my avm is so large that the surgeon said I have to do gamma twice. My AVM is deep on the right side (grade 4 avm) The doctor said it's a big ugly thing
Thank you for your blessings. How are you doing any problems since surgery?

Oh, my... sorry to read that happened on Christmas day. From what I can recall about the gamma knife treatment, it would be a big plus for avm like yours. Are you able to control your headaches? Have they done and angiogram?

I am doing really good and thank God for that and all the prayers. I also
started a regimen of gogi juice three months prior to the surgery and am
still taking it. I think my energy level is increasing all the time. I think
the biggest thing affected were my emotions.

Hope you are feeling good,
:)donna
