Just looking for feedback on the hypersensitivity testing for foods and chemicals. I understand it is somewhat controversial, but our relatively new pediatrician practically threw the test results from the nutritionist in the garbage and said all the testing for foods, chemicals, and deficiencies is a total waste of money. This pediatrician has not ordered one single test of anything in trying to get a diagnosis for ds, but am I over reacting to think that he is that closed minded? Is this the norm for pediatricians or is it just this guy? Then he goes and puts him on an antibiotic with dyes in it and my son's peak flo readings plummet and he's episodic galore and can't function at school. The pediatrician says that he has never had any patient with reactions to anything, including foods and dyes, but to just take him off the antibiotic for his sinus infection. Should I just get the allergist involved to tell the pediatrician how to treat ds for a simple sinus infection or just change pediatricians? I just don't know how prevalent his attitude is if I start looking around for another pediatrician. He also will not take our word for anything, everything must be documented from a doctor in writing before he will do anything. For example, ds had a severe allergic reaction from prior vaccines and had allergy skin testing done with positive results for all components, but the pediatrician wouldn't withhold vaccine boosters and continued to give them until I could provide the allergist report (which we did). Any advice or similar experience with closed mindedness to alternative testing and treatment?

If it were my child, I would find another doctor.
