Well, since I can't sleep and don't have good results with most sleeping pills, I'm being put on Xyrem also know as GHB, the date rape drug. Has anyone else been prescribed this for their severe insomnia? Has it helped? Were you afraid of using it and have your fears been put to rest (no pun intended)?
I really hope someone can give me some input into this drug.
Thank you and hugs to all,
Kathy

No I haven't heard of the GHB being prescribed for sleep, although I suppose it could work. I would be concerned about how you might "act" before you actually went into a deep sleep. Hopefully someone will come along soon who knows a little more and can help you. I can see you're a night owl just like I am. I guess it comes with the fibro.

Hey Kathy!! No I really haven't joined the chat yet, but it sounds interesting. Can you point me in the direction to it and I'd be happy to join you in there.

Kathy,
I am taking Xyrem for the sleep issues that go with Fibro. This was like the last medication to try since I had tried every thing else with no success. I was on Mirapex which worked but I had a reaction to it. The Xyrem has been a blessing. I must say this summer I was more active, able to go to work on a regular basis and felt better over all. I was not afraid of taking this since I was willing to try anything to get some sleep. The pain of the fibro lessened and the fibrofog cleared up after being on Xyrem for the first 6 months. The only problem I am having is hearing the alarm for the second nightly dose. LOL. Hope it is working for you.

Thank you all. I now have the courage to call them and tell them to ship it to me. It would be sooooo nice to sleep through the night.
God bless,
Kathy

Heres to an awesome night of sleep for you!!!!! It's an amazing feeling waking up in the morning and realizing you actually slept...there is one thing about it that I kinda hate at times, I wake up about the same time every morning (early) :( and then can't go back to sleep and I used to be one of those that like to sleep in late sometimes but not anymore...it's ok tho b/c at least I feel like getting up now :) ...lol Good luck and great sleep!!!! Ucamomb I posted a link about a study for Fms. When I went in and read about it they actually talked about the "good" effects from GHB. The link is www.mlnstudy.com. Maybe you should see if the study is in your state and give it a shot. Everything is free!!
