Hi everyone ! Ethan is home. He was released from the hospital Saturday night. We have him all settled in and after some rough spots yesterday afternoon (very irritable and cranky, growling at his grandmother).... he is doing better. He ate some dinner (grammie's special meatballs) and had a very good night's sleep. He actually woke up smiling this morning, looking much more like his old self. They had to shave away the hair on the back of his head, as his bed sore has ulcerated and is quite yucky ! We have to drive down to Boston on Wednesday (yes, they are predicting snow storm tuesday night into wed UGHHHH) . He is going to see 1)plastic surgeon (not sure about this one) 2) neurology 3) Ortho surgeon (post surgery check and get bandages on his back removed) 4) 2nd neurolog appt. Will be the day from HE!! ! They backed down all his meds to pre-surgery levels. Did an EEG and did not see any seizure activity. So it's wait and see. The grimacing has subsided somewhat. It is not as intense, nor is it as frequent as last week. So that is some improvement ! His CNA is here and grammie and CNA are going to get him washed up and out of bed and involved in SOMETHING. Anything besides watching TV ! Thanks for all the well wishes. i will keep you posted on his progress this week !
Thanks ! Sarah Anne

Glad to hear the good news. hopefully as the meds settle down the movements will continue to decrease further. Then he can get on with getting better with no more setbacks. all the best.

I am so glad to hear he's home and feeling better! I hope the bedsore heals quickly without any extra intervention. I also hope things go smoothly on Wednesday and the weather holds for you.

Sarah Anne,
How has Ethan been since returning home? Poor lil guy has been through the ringer. Hope the bedsore is getting better. My mother inlaw had one on her ear and we got her a satin pillow case that she dearly cherished.
Up date when you can

Ethan is having a rough time. His bed sore is horrible. He had a pretty good morning and early afternoon, but by mid afternoon the grimacing was unbearable. It is awful. It is awful to watch him struggle. He can't talk/eat and is clearly shaken/upset by what is going on. I cuddled with him on his bed and we watched Deal or No Deal (he loves $$ and pretty girls !) so one of his favorites ! but he didn't even seem interested. When he starts the grimacing it's like he just disappears. We have follow up appts in Boston tomorrow (yes, will be driving in the storm from Maine). We are seeing someone about his sore, 2 neuro appts and his surgeon to remove dressings etc. I just want them to find out why this is happening and stop it ! He is supposed to go to school today for a 2 hr visit.. if he feels up to it. His teacher and 1 friend from class came by yesterday for a visit. Helped his spirits !
Please send thoughts that this stops !

Oh this just breaks my heart. I HATE it that it is so rough on him lately (and you too of course) Just isn't fair. I wish I could help. But I will send all the positive thoughts and vibes to buddy Ethan for this to all stop and he feel much better very very soon.
Take Care & Best Wishes
