I was thrilled to find this site! I am 46 years old and had my first seizure last week at 3:00 am. When I arrived at the ER, I had a second one. They called it Grand Mal.

I feel fine now but what bothers me the most is that I have absolutely NO memory of three days. I remember nothing of the morning of the seizure... the ambulance arriving, the ride to the ER.. nothing! But my husband tells me that I was awake and talking to the paramedics and even walked myself out to the ambulance!!!

In the ER, I was awake, eating Jello and talking to everybody. I remember NOTHING. That is a scary feeling!

The Neurologist told us that they OD'd me on Dilantin in error, which may be why I lost 2 days. They were drawing blood every couple of hours to check my levels. They told me I was toxic.

I was totally whacked out for 3 days!

My Neurologist switched me to Keppra because I couldn't tolerate the Dilantin. I just started the Keppra last week. I seem to be tolerating it well.

I have to increase my dosage over the next 3 weeks... I hope I continue to accept it well. One PLUS... the Keppra takes away my appetite! That's a nice bonus!

It's nice to be here and I look forward to hearing your stories as well.

Tonya

Tonya, Can relate to your story 100% Seizures are not fun at all and to me are quite embarasing, beside the losing crontol thing. I try to tell everyone around me if I am not feeling well, or think that I should tell them about my epislespy. About not remembering things that is strange to me as well, but is something we have to cope with. This is funny to me, but i had a seizure at the cleveland clinic while having tests, after I was released from the Er My old man yelled at me for not remebering where I parked.
I know I should not be driving, but everytime I have to I have really no choice.

Hi Tonya,my name is Gregory.Do you have hydrocephalus?I have congential hydrocephalus.I know that when you have a Gran-Mal seizure you go to sleep for a long time.I know this because I have had two.The only thing I can remember about having that seizure is waking up in the ICU and yelling for my mom and dad.It was like being in a nightmare because my mom told me that I almost died.I am thirteen.Email me soon.
Sencerily,
Gregory
