Hello all. Just a quick note. Jimmie and I are off the the epileptologist today. This is the follow up after the 24 VEEG in January. We were supposed to go a couple of weeks ago, but we got 12 inches of snow on that day, and I wasn't trying to drive to Chicago (110 miles) in that mess. So here we are. It's cold, but not as cold. And the sun is shining. Much better day for this. We'll see what's up now. David is beginning to think keto will not help. Poor dh is losing hope I think. I don't know if it will work or not, but I would rather try now than in a year or two. And it is non-invasive. I would like to get rid of the depakote. It doesn't really help. I don't suppose it is hurting any either, but with every little red blotch, I worry. I would hate to go back to topamax because it affected his appetite (which is poor to begin with) and caused him to overheat, but the truth is the best control he ever had was on topamax and keppra. I want to keep the keppra even if we are not seeing good control because I do see good cognitive results. He's sharper, more interactive, more alert, and learns more on keppra than off. We'll see what Dr. Laux has to say.

It does get hard when nothing seems to be working- no stranger to that at all here. With the diet, YOU ARE RIGHT@! it would be so much better to try it now opposed to waiting a few years. I wish so much that we had tried it when Ri was 4the first time her neurologist brought it up.. I also want to get Riley off the depakote, but I am not sure about the next choice in meds either... Topomax gave us teh best control, but we can't go bak to it because of the vision stuff Ri had going on with it... (sigh) it is a never ending battle.
Have a safe trip and I hope you get some good direction at the appointment!

I hope everything goes well today. It makes sense to me to try Keto sooner than later.

Let us know how it goes. I vote for dairy-free.:o (I get a vote, right?) And, I vote for trying diet changes sooner rather than later. Samantha and Claire taught me that.
