I just recieved the results of her 48-hour ambulatory EEG. It concluded that:
Abnormal due to:
1) independant right frontal, central, midline spike and sharp waves in sleep.
2) Vertex waves with admixed spikes more prominant over the right frontal, central and midline region.
Conclusion:
"EEG suggestive of an underlying seizure disorder with focal mechanism of onset in the right frontal, central and midline region.
Awaiting disscussion with NS and neuro. Not sure how serious or not this is, but I do not feel well about it.

Sorry,I was taught not to swear, but, you and Hayley are in my thoughts and prayers. (See what six years of Episcopalian school can do to a woman?
I was also taught not to cuss..although,in later years, with epi med battles.. i did use a few choice words.):p

Sue, that is just..... I don't even know the right word, but I understand. I hope your docs have a reasonable plan to help her! We are finally seeing some kind of control with Megan on 3 meds... we see her epi on Monday and I am scared that they are going to want to change things again....
My prayers and hugs,

(((((((((((((((Sue)))))))))))))))))) and ((((((((((((((Hayley))))))))))))))). :(
I'm so sorry to hear this. :( Has she been having obvious seizures lately? EEGs are weird beasts. I have had normal ones and experienced significant sz activity, and abnormal readings with no recognizable sz activity for years. These things can lie, so try to take it as it is: a suggestion that sz activity is more likely to occur, but not a definite. There is reason to hope she'll be okay, and even if they become an issue, they don't have to continue to be a problem. I know it's another thing to worry about, but it may be no big deal, too.

Everyone for your kind words. So I read into the reading as she may be having seizures sometimes, and it seems her (brain mis-firing is occurring while asleep as well.) She gets a lot of staring spells where it is noted by teachers "that she is not cognitivley aware of her environment". The 2 events recorded by the button, however did not correlate during that reading but does not mean that some of her spells are not seizures too.
This may shed some light on one scary episode while DH and I were at a Pats game and her sitter Stephanie (who is an EMT and college student). She woke up from a nap, and was noted Hayley did not know where she was, her eyes were "not normal" i.e. looked like she was on drugs or something. So it scared her and she checked her out for "stroke-like" symptoms.
Additionally, I do not think one data set can quantify a definitive diagnosis.
So the plan:
Neuropsych evaluation
Perfusion MRI study
Possibly a VEEG or Repeat EEG
We all agreed not to put her on meds as of yet, due to their toxic effects, she was already on phenobarb for a while during her first year. So they prescribed diastat just in case, since she is at a higher risk for seizure activity.
