Hello,
The title here says it all. I tried Concerta and was way too nervous to take it- my agoraphobia (which has been under control for years) started acting up again. My doctor will not put me on anything else because he is worried about the phobic reaction.
Has anyone got any ideas for natural remedies I might try? I am at my wit's end and my mom is noticing my ADHD getting bad again.
Btw, hello- new here and I'm 39 y/o.

Hi - you might want to discuss wellbuterin with your doctor. It is an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety med that is sometimes used to treat adhd, too. Also, some people have had success with Straterra, although my son developed problems with it 6 to 8 weeks into the meds. But for the people that it works for, they swear by it.
Neither of those meds are stimulants, so they may not cause th problems that Concerta does.
I have also been told that Transcedental meditation can be helpful for adhd, but it's expensive to be trained.ood luck.

Caffeine and guarana help some ADHD'ers.
There are supplements that you can try instead of meds but they could take months to work if they do. I learned all about the supplements on this very forum and I've successfully treated two of my children with them. One is VERY ADHD and he's hasn't used meds for about 5 years. He's an honor student, admittedly he still forgets things and can be unfocused but as a rule when he WISHES to be focused he can. I think the biggest difference now between him and someone w/o ADHD is that he really has to choose to focus and think about it but with the supplements he can.
The supplements may or may not work you have to try them to see. My son definitely had vitamin deficiencies and luckily they worked for him.
Here is a list of the supplements I use. I haven't found that the brand is as important as the dosage.

Thank you so much for the list of supplements and for the suggestion of exercise (and the link).
I'm trying fish oil again but at a higher dose than I took before. Also am taking morning walks for exercise.
Wish me luck; I hope to return to school in one month to start my bachelor's degree and it's on online school so organization will be vital.
About Wellbutrin- I took it with success prior to my diagnosis but it did make me nervous.
Thanks again!
My son has ADHD and generalized anxiety disorder. He picks his skin and has just recently started pulling out his eyelashes. He is taking Focalin and Zoloft. A neuropsychologist expressed the concern that his ADHD meds are making his anxiety worse. We have tried Straterra(sp) but the emotional side effects made us switch quickly. I'm looking into the other non-stimulant ADHD medications. Are they a better choice with the anxiety combo?

What are the non-stimulant ADHD medications? As far as I understood, Strattera was just about it.
If you hear of any let me know; thanks!
